"CHIRAQ" AND THE "GANGS OF NEW YORK"

Before Spike Lee's movie "Chiraq" comes out, I hope to re-watch "Gangs Of New York" and watch it all the way to the end this time.

Wanna know why? I'll tell you. In the background of this movie, you can see how white people were affected by poverty and overcrowding back when a  much larger percentage of the white tribe was poor and overcrowded.

Not so long ago, a percentage of white people in this country turned to a dog-eat-dog kind of behavior, turned to criminality even.  And that criminal 10% to 20%(I don't actually know) made the entire area they were living in a war zone.

I repeat, there is no reason for white people to be confused about crime in today's inner cities, not so confused that they think the violence in inner cities is due to people being not-white. All white folk have to do is look at their own history for the effects of poverty, over-crowding, and not enough hope to go around.

False Masculinity always rears its ugliest head in these situations as well but that's another story for another time.

So, if you want to debunk black-on-black crime in your own head, watching white-on-white crime in the movie "Gangs Of New York" can give you a cheap and easy history lesson that might lead you to books and research that will tell you more.

By the way, "black-on-black" crime is not real. Yes, 84% or more of black people are murdered by black people. But 84% of white people are murdered by white people too. I suspect the figures are the same for Asians and Latinos. People kill who they live and work near. People also tend to kill people they know. That tends to keeps murder INTRA-racial. "Black-on-Black" crime is the only intra-racial crime that's got a catchy name...so as to mark us as inferior.  Check the FBI UCR data for yourself.

GANGS OF NEW YORK PREVIEW

Note: "Chiraq" is a common name for Chicago's South Side, used to describe the area as a war zone due to its high crime rates. The word is a blending of "Chicago" and "Iraq".
