COLORISM, TRUTH, AND BLACK UNITY

Feeling Rebloggy

If we really care about Black unity we will focus on the topics that divide us and yes, colorism is one of them.
If you ignore colorism you are a colorist.

If you say it doesn’t exist regardless of the evidence you are a colorist.

If you support people who promote colorism you are a colorist.

If you see it happening and do nothing to stop it, you are a colorist.

If you are silent about it you are complicit and you are a colorist.

Still not sold on silence being violence within the black community?

See if you don't recognize some of the behaviors listed here and think again. Some of the items on the list are about being raised to believe mixed-race is a high plane of existence rather than light skin. But the list should be thought provoking about the divisions that need to be healed.

If the details of the problem don't make you weep too much, move on to reading about the solutions
