STATUATORY RAPE CULTURE AND THE MAN WHO WOULD BE SENATOR, ROY MOORE

DO NOT READ THIS ON A FULL STOMACH
First a definition:
"Statutory rape is sexual activity in which one of the individuals is below the age required to legally consent to the behavior in some common law jurisdictions. Although it usually refers to adults engaging in sexual contact with minors under the age of consent, it is a generic term, and very few jurisdictions use the actual term statutory rape in the language of statutes."  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statutory_rape

"After the Washington Post reported on Thursday that Roy Moore, the Republican candidate in December’s special U.S. Senate election, molested a 14-year-old girl and dated three other underage girls, Vice-President Mike Pence and a number of Republican senators called for him to drop out of the race … if the allegations are true.

They did not elaborate on what the women were supposed to do to prove that these events, which occurred decades ago, really took place. Apparently Senator John McCain considered corroborating statements from their friends and family sufficient, as he did not qualify his call for Moore to step down...

Alabama state auditor Jim Ziegler echoed Moore’s religious themes, noting that “Mary was a teenager and Joseph was an adult carpenter. They became parents of Jesus."  "
If you don't believe in rape culture now that you've also seen these bible thumping white men on the right fail to condemn this animal, you never will.
And do keep in mind, that Mr. I'm-a-maverick John McCain didn't begin to start doing the right thing until he was sure he wasn't going to run again -- first he announced retirement, then he got brain cancer.
Is this really what it takes for the very party of the "moral majority" --that 81% of white evangelical Christians voted for despite Trump's misogyny and racism-- to stand up for young girls?
A senator, a congressman has to have nothing to lose because he's retiring and/or dying in order to do what's right?

Really?

"It was common knowledge that Roy dated high school girls, everyone we knew thought it was weird," former deputy district attorney Teresa Jones told CNN in comments aired Saturday. "We wondered why someone his age would hang out at high school football games and the mall ... but you really wouldn't say anything to someone like that."

Jones' and Moore's job timelines seem to overlap nearish 1982.
So Roy Moore was 35 years old hanging out at the high school looking for high school girls?

And he was already so powerful at 35, nobody said anything to him? Puh-leeease.

Whenever somebody tries to tell you white men care about white women, you remember what all the crap that came out over the last couple of years and especially this week.

White women were useful tools during slavery and Jim Crow if a white man wanted to use the law to hang a black man for rape if that white man wanted to have a little deadly fun or, more often than not, steal something the black man had.

But white women and and white girls are not valuable to white men in general.  The jail sentences for rape  (when  a white man does the raping) should tell you that all by itself. The statute of limitations of rape should tell you the same thing. The things the male written laws say are ugly but permissible (sexual harassment) should be screaming the same thing a third time.

Again, this is how Bill Cosby was allowed to get away with raping white women. Sans a husband, white women are pretty much counted as worthless to white men.

White children aren't worth much to white men either, but that's a story for a different day. In the meantime, if you're curious, look up FBI UCR data and prison sentences for crimes against children...the sentences are tiny for abusing, sexually assaulting children.

White children not being worth much is why gun control laws didn't change after the Sandy Hook shooting. More than two dozen children died, most of them white...and the republicans stopped President Obama from getting gun legislation through.

Trump even went so far as to reverse most of an Obama era rule where the mentally ill cannot buy a gun

So, now you know why you shouldn't be confused about why nobody even tried to arrest Moore, the creepy high school stalker, back in the1980s.

And since we have "grab em by the p*ssy" in the White House, it shouldn't come as that big a shock if Moore winds up being voted into office regardless.
