LET THE VOTER GAMES BEGIN; REPUBLICANS SUPPRESS THE BLACK VOTE IN ALABAMA

The republicans have been busy since the last presidential election.

Very.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's website says their office at the Clarke County Courthouse is still open, but soon a lot of others nearby won't be. On Wednesday, the agency announced that it would close 31 offices throughout the state, leaving 28 counties without a place where 16-year-olds can take a driver's test, whether they pass on the first try or not.

That's an inconvenience.

But there's something bigger happening here.

In 2014, a voter ID law went into effect, making it illegal to vote in Alabama without a government-issued photo ID. And for most people that would be a driver's license.

The republicans photo ID is necessary to prevent voter fraud. Voter fraud has been shown to be a non-factor over and over again. But what making a photo ID necessary does do is stop people who don't own a car --young pre-car democrats, lower income democrats, elderly democrats-- from voting. Who is it but working folk that have a hard time getting time off to go the DMV? And now there's not going to be one in their neighborhood? Are the long distance DMVs closed on Saturdays like the one near me (since Bush Jr's 2007 debacle with the economy)

Is it just me, or are the republicans so bold that they aren't even trying to cover their racist tracks anymore?
