FRANCHESCA DEBUNKS THE 10 EXCUSES USED TO DENY RACISM

The one thing I really wish Franchesca Ramsey had covered in the video below is how 95% of poor white people's participation in slavery is what held racism in place -- not the 10% of 5% of 4% that owned slaves.

A functional chattel-type slavery requires that the slaves have no place to run. And poor white people provided that requirement.

Rich white people engaged poor white people by telling poor whites that their whiteness made them kings even as they were so poor they were eating weeds out of their gardens to survive -- and they mostly bought it. The movie 12 YEARS A SLAVE could have expounded upon that point a little more too.

The descendents of poor non-slave owning white folks attitudes have been passed down generation to generation too. Make no mistake. That's why Chucklehead McTwitterwit is president right now.

The other place you used to be able to see how the descendents of 90 to 95% of non-slave owning whites think was on google. Up until at least 2006, a white man named John Brown was seen as a crazy radical extremist --just because he was one of the first white people to think destroying the white supremacy holding slavery in place was worth going to war over, worth risking his life over.

So, I wish there was a historical google search engine so I could show you how he was disparaged by the descendents of non-slave owning white folks who simply did not think slavery was worth killing other white people over.

Again, the poor white person was critical to keeping slavery in place. And their middle class and poor descendants are critical to keeping the modern day Paddy Rollers (cops) able to murder unarmed black people sans consequences to this day.

But the video is only 5 minutes long. So we'll forgive her for not roping poor whites into the center of her third point -- this time.

10 EXCUSES COVERED

1. Barack Obama was president
2. Oprah was super privilege
3. My Family Never Owned Slaves
4. The Irish were slaves too!
(No. And they became white through violence against blacks)
5. White Privilege isn't real
6. Classism is the real problem
7. I dated a black person, so I can't be a racist
8. I can say the n-word, John said so.
9. Racist Excuses
10. Stop talking about racism to make it go away

White Carrier Workers Learn That WHITE-LIKE-ME Doesn't Matter As Much As RICH-LIKE ME

TRANSLATION:
Despite all the negative rhetoric I heard Trump say about NOT-WHITE PEOPLE before my job WAS EVER IN JEOPARDY I thought Trump was a truth teller. So I believed him because he's white and I'm white too.

BACKGROUND:
(from the New Yorker)
"Today, the profitable H.V.A.C. company, owned by United Technologies Corporation—a federal contractor whose climate, controls, and security division, of which Carrier is a part, reported three billion dollars in operating profit in 2016—is letting go of more than two hundred employees in its second and final wave of Indiana-based layoffs, which began last July. In total, the company will be laying off more than five hundred employees as it moves manufacturing jobs to Monterrey, Mexico.
Many of those employees voted for Donald Trump, who made saving Carrier’s “big, beautiful plant” one of his most repeated campaign promises. It was part of his broader preĆ«lection claim that “A Trump Administration will stop the jobs from leaving America.”

That promise is the main reason that the soon-to-be ex-Carrier employees Renee Elliott and Duane Oreskovic voted for Trump...
When Carrier announced the planned layoffs, in February of 2016, on what many employees soon began calling “D Day,” their financial futures suddenly came into question. Then, in the run-up to the election, Trump seemed to offer a solution, with his tough talk about stopping the flow of American jobs to other countries, including Mexico.

“We took him serious,” Elliott said, tearing up as she sat in a booth at Sully’s, “because he did seem to be an entrepreneur. He knew this offshoring shit was gonna go down, and ‘I’m not gonna stand for it’ is the way he made it sound. Hillary never said a word to us or about us. Obama never flew Air Force One to our facility, like he did to one in Elkhart, Indiana, when he was campaigning.
I thought, This man is not gonna be anybody’s puppet.” Elliott went on, “It was an easy vote for me. " "
https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/carrier-employees-soon-to-be-laid-off-feel-betrayed-by-donald-trump

As part of this deal Trump took credit for, Carrier got millions in tax breaks...taxes that are need to pay for welfare that Elliot may need one day quite soon. But that tax incentive the company got was so much nothing compared to their ability to pay Mexican workers little more than $3 an hour.

And that tax cut the corporation got? They're using that to increase automation which reduces their need for employees even more.

https://www.reuters.tv/v/fK7/2018/01/12/carrier-sends-jobs-to-mexico-despite-trump-deal

CONCLUSION: Like I said in November of 2016, the entitled white folks that voted for Trump will be eating lawn mower clippings before long. So all I have to say to this is CONGRATULATIONS on reaping what you sowed.

May the rest of us be spared your fate because we failed to stop your white supremacy cosigning asses.
* * * * *
I've been trying to search myself and see if I have any empathy for the white folks like Renee at all. But the answer is pretty close to "No. None at all."

If I'd have been working at Carrier and desperate to keep my job and a roof over my head, maybe as a black person I'd have been silent when Trump came to visit if he said he'd save the plant I was working at  --because I know who and what he is.
If I was white and he came to say he'd save my job, maybe I'd have pretended I was grateful with a silent fake smile  -- because I've had ample opportunity to know who and what he is
Who and what Trump is has always been obvious to any-white-body who spent one millisecond concerned about anybody not white like self
That's why the only thing I would NOT have done, regardless of my hypothetical skin color, is actually vote for the KKKluxer-In-Chief, much less come out and say "I believed...."

Therefore, Renee can go screw herself and the horse she rode in on too.

All of this is why a lot of black and brown folk --and some white folk too-- are sitting around today, smiling and sipping tea, thinking "My, my my...The Schadenfreude is so incredibly sweet today." BLACKCHICKROCKED.BLOGSPOT.COM

AIN'T A DAMN THING FRINGE ABOUT THE WHITE FOLK RAISING HELL IN CHARLOTTESVILLE

from

There’s Nothing ‘Fringe’ About These White People
at Very Smart Brothas

screen shot CNN

The comforts in considering the white nationalists in Charlottesville, Va., to be fringe are obvious. For white people, speaking of them and their views as if they’re unique and anomalous allows them (the “good” white people) to distinguish themselves from these racists, while also minimizing their ubiquity and influence. If they’re fringe—if they only exist in the crevices and butt cracks of the country—the good white people can continue to believe they’ve done enough, and they can eat their quiche with peace of mind.
And, for those of us (and “us” could be Black people, Latinos, Muslims, Jews, homosexuals and anyone else the nationalists believe are oppressing them and wish to rid America of) who still believe in the fantasy of the fringe alt-right, the comfort exists in convincing ourselves that there just aren’t that many of them. Because if they’re not fringe, if they’re actually everywhere, then ...

Ex-KKK Leader David Duke Says White Supremacists Will ‘Fulfill’ Trump’s Promises

Feeling Rebloggy

“This represents a turning point for the people of this country,” said Duke in video uploaded to Twitter by Indianapolis Star photojournalist Mykal McEldowney. “We are determined to take our country back. We are going to fulfill the promises of Donald Trump. That’s what we believed in, that’s why we voted for Donald Trump. Because he said he’s going to take our country back. That’s what we gotta do.”
In a tweet, Trump condemned “hate” and “violence” in response to clashes at the rally on Saturday, though he did not call out white supremacists in particular.
Duke responded to Trump’s tweet by stating that Trump should “remember” that “White Americans’ were the ones to put him in office...

BLACK PASTOR SCREAMS "GOTTA GO GOTTA GO!" AND RUNS DURING CHARLOTTESVILLE INTERVIEW

During a live-feed interview with MSNBC host Joy Reid, a black minister who was one of the counter-protesters at a white [supremacist] march in Charlottesville, Virginia suddenly had to bolt from the screen as her fellow pastors and other counter-protesters were attacked.
Host Reid was interviewing Rev. Traci Blackmon about the march when a security guard grabbed her and pulled her off-screen as she screamed, “Gotta go, gotta,” as fights broke out nearby her.
A stunned Reid, blurted, ‘Oh my goodness!”

So What Is So Different About THE OPIOID CRISIS?

Feeling Rebloggy
From June 2017

In short, the current opioid crisis has a different face.

The 1980s drug crisis was the “crack epidemic” and stereotypically portrayed as a phenomenon of “the violent black inner-city,” focusing on criminally dangerous drug addicts. Media coverage at the time shamed black mothers with addiction in particular, referencing “a time bomb in cocaine babies” and the “bio-underclass.” Crack was “reaching out to destroy the quality of life, and life itself, at all levels of American society.” In reality, the harm caused by the crack epidemic was not as severe as the media sensationalized. However, the resulting punitive approaches of the “War on Drugs” with harsh sentencing and mandatory minimums disproportionately affectedcommunities of color with devastating effects.
Today, we're shown a different face in the opioid crisis – a white one.
Since 2001, the opioid overdose death rate among non-Hispanic whites has been higher than that of non-Hispanic blacks, and has sharply increased in recent years. With this new face comes a new response: rather than demonizing substance use as criminal behavior, our nation emphasizes treatment and public health interventions.

Timeframe: 1999 – 2015

Why is the opioid crisis disproportionately affecting whites?
Non-Hispanic whites make up more than 80-percent of opioid overdose deaths in the United States, and structural racism plays an important role in explaining this...

[Proving his KKK endorsement justified,] U.S. President Donald Trump threatened on Thursday to cut funding to the University of California at Berkeley after protesters smashed windows and set fires at the school, forcing the cancellation of an appearance by a far-right Breitbart News editor, [the indefensible overt racist Milo Yiannopoulos]
Trump's threat in a tweet provoked a response from California lawmakers, who in discussions on the floor of the state senate called it distasteful and an abuse of power, marking the latest clash between the Republican president and officials in the Democratic-majority state....
Lawmakers said they would look into whether President Trump could actually take funds from the university which receives $400 to $450 million in funding for research annually. In 2016, the university also received $216 million in federal student aid, a legislative official said.
"All we have to go on now is another angry tweet," said Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon, a Democrat from the Los Angeles suburb of Paramount

TRUMP VOTERS DON'T DESERVE YOUR EMPATHY OR FORGIVENESS

Forgiveness is never earned. I know that. It's a gift. But it's a gift you consider giving to someone AFTER they've wronged you not WHILE they are CURRENTLY wronging you WHILE ALSO denying that their actions are deadly.

And they don't deserve our empathy either. The time for empathy and sympathy from the oppressed for the oppressor came and went with the Civil Rights Movement. And the majority of the white population didn't deserve our patience back then.

With all the information and patience made available to white people about the wages of whiteness in 1950s and 1960s, much less all the information white people have now? There is no excuse for "accidentally" voting for a poor people hating, misogynistic, homophobic, Islamophobic ethnoracist EXCEPT that you like Trump's patriarchal Make America White Again rhetoric.

White people like to pretend that you have to feel hate to feel superior to someone. Well I have news for you? I've felt superior to other people at least one or two times in my life. It felt good. I didn't feel any bad ole hate in there. I felt sorry for person X becaue they weren't as good as me. Then I felt even BETTER about myself for being a sympathetic person.

The how superiority generally works. And it multiplies on itself inside a soul if you don't EVER think of self-examination.

(Pssst! That's what Christianity is supposed to be about. Self-reflection and reflection on your relationship with God. No other-reflection, determining how everybody else on the planet should believe everything I believe and act accordingly is not the point of Christianity -- unless it's white Christianity. The vast majority of white people cannot separate whiteness from one doggone thing. Somewhere near 81% of white evangelicals voted for Trump)

The "white working class" and their economic angst is a smoke screen. White people on the left and right redefined "working class" the day after the election to hide the white supremacy motivations of 57% of white voters.

People like Bernie Sanders are calling for an end to "identity politics" which is no more than the political version of "we're all one race the human race."  And I expect no more from him because he moved to the whitest state in the nation right after his participation in The Civil Rights Movement.

But we have to demand more from the white people who DID NOT vote for Trump.

And one of the first things we have to demand, especially from the main stream press, is that they STOP trying to throw up a smoke screen in front of the damn near 60% of all white people (represented by nearly 60% of white voters) who find white supremacy appealing.

Step one is telling white people on the left and on the right: "No, You won't be getting any empathy or sympathy for fearful white people who are lying about their economic anxiety. And they have to be lying because black and brown (authentically) working class people would have ignored the ethnoracism coming out of the white candidate's mouth AS USUALand voted for The Deranged Cheeto. Black and brown people vote to protect their jobs and paychecks just like everybody else. Black voters did not vote for Trump to the tune of 88% because "working class" was not Trump's appeal.

Patriarchal white supremacy was Trump's only true appeal -- that's why white people from all walks of life voted for him.

Headline

Yes, Donald Trump’s voters may be confused and in pain — but no, they don’t deserve our empathy

Some Trump voters may well feel traumatized by historic and economic change. But that's no reason to forgive them

On a philosophical level, pleas for empathy towards Donald Trump’s voters must be weighed according to how they address basic questions of privilege, respect and human dignity. Let me explain.
Trump has promised to expand an even more violent, predatory and unconstitutional police state against blacks and Latinos in the interest of being “tough on crime.” Trump has also said that he would deport millions “illegal aliens” (code for undocumented laborers from Mexico and other Latin America nations, a group he considers to be natural rapists and murderers). The incoming president and his advisers have also praised the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II — a human rights crime for which the government has since apologized and paid reparations. During the campaign, Trump suggested banning Muslims from the United States, and while he appears to have backed away from that proposal, he supports creating a kind of “enemies list” for Muslim immigrants who already live here.
These actions would imperil the safety and security of many millions of people. They are also a violation of basic human dignity and civil rights. Donald Trump’s voters support such policies, explicitly or otherwise, and are responsible for electing the candidate who made such threats the foundation of his campaign. To ask the future or present victims of Donald Trump to empathize with his supporters is morally perverse"

IT WAS THE RACISM STUPID - SALON'S VERSION

Several Publications have written articles under the same name. Most of them were published after NEW D-DAY, 11-08-2016.  I think you should explore this one. Chauncey DeVega and I are on the same page here.

I've said the same thing  --white folks voted whiteness. Period-- a few different ways since the election. Here is the message again, more eloquently, with references, and addressing some of the latest deflections like "The Russian's did it!!!"

By the way, if the Russian did do it, it's only because they saw the white racism handwriting on the wall. If the Russians did it all they had to know going in was that the majority of white voters would leap at any excuse at all (freaking e-mails) to vote whiteness.

PRESIDENT CATCHES HIS LAST IMPLIED N-WORD WITH GRACE

After the mass shooting in Florida, White Governor Scott did not call President Obama for whatever federal aid he might need. No, he did not. Instead, he called the authority-less and power-less until January 20th Orange Dragon. He even called the Dragon's pet rat Pence.
"I have reached out to President-elect Trump, and spoken to him and to Vice President-elect (Mike) Pence multiple times to keep them informed, and they told me whatever resources that we need from the federal government, they would do everything in their power to make that happen.”
Scott didn't even call PRESIDENT OBAMA right after he called the dragon and the rat. Scott didn't bother calling PRESIDENT OBAMA until after he'd spoken to reporters.

In fact after Scott had called Trump multiple times, he actually tried to sound petulant that President Obama hadn't dropped everything AND COME A-RUNNIN when he might have needed something called him first.

Scott's excuse?  He has a personal relationship with Trump and Pence ("personal relationship" = whiteness in common?)

In when-they-go-low, we-go-high fashion, when he and PRESIDENT OBAMA did speak PRESIDENT OBAMA offered condolences and assistance.

That's as it should be.

It's up to the rest of us to call

a "republiKKKlansman" a "republiKKKlansman"
whenever we see these mo-fos pulling this crap.

If somebody tells me Scott did it unconsciously, all I will be able to say is, "Yes, I believe you. For 57% or more of white people in this country treating a black person like a n*gg*r comes so naturally no conscious thought is required."

Read More:
http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2017/01/06/florida-gov-scott-says-he-called-trump-but-not-obama-after-fort-lauderdale-airport-shooting/

By the way, I am assuming that this is to be the last impled n*gg*r to be tossed in PRESIDENT OBAMA'S direction by a white politician. I am assuming this because I feel like it really can't happen again with only 13 days of PRESIDENT OBAMA's administration. But with white racists who don't know their racists, you never know.

Eduardo Bonilla-Silva needs to stop being politically correct, just like Trump's followers want. He needs to name the next edition of his book, "White Racism Without White Racists" so that the 1% of Trump voters with brains enough to dig a little deeper might recognize themselves

HOW ASIAN AMERICANS WENT FROM HATED MINORITY GROUP TO USEFUL PROP

...You gotta remember that in America, Asians were NOT welcomed with open arms. We've been lynched, excluded from immigration, barred from miscegenation, and forced into internment camps. After WW2, Asians were desperate to make a better life for themselves, and complacency with whiteness became instrumental to our success.

"These stereotypes about Asian Americans being patriotic, having an orderly family, not having delinquency or crime — they became seen as the opposite of what “blackness” represented to many Americans at the time."
From a racist, twisted logical sense, you can see why Asian-Americans fall back on anti-Blackness: it's a shortcut to white acceptance and a better life...

ANOTHER RESPONSE TO WHITE CALLS FOR PEACE

A black writer wrote about white racist motivations regarding this election
A white women
hearing the word "racist"
as an empty epithet
instead of
a more three dimensional word
with deep multilayered meanings,
wrote a comment calling for
peace and unity
starting with a
'NOT ALL WHITE PEOPLE...'

type comment

As I read her comment on the very next day after the election, I went off a little...

*******************

The white people that voted for Trump are not discernible from white racists enough for there to be any difference.
If anything, black and brown people need to bare their teeth and growl their opinions at white people because being subtle and saying "This hurts us" is just so much whining to MOST OF YOU.

MOST OF YOU WHITE people voted for someone who will literally bring death and destruction down on us. Some of us are afraid to go outside this morning. Some of us are afraid of what to say to our children about lying, bullying, sexism, and bigotry if those children understood 10% of what Donald Trump said on the television as they walked by it.
If you want to lecture somebody about [peace and unity] you better go find some white people to do it to. I don't care WHO you voted for. If you don't open your mouth and beg, growl, plead or reason with people who look like you then YOU are the problem.
White folks need to clean up white folks racist bullsh** on aisle three. When black people do the lecturing and growling a whole bunch of WHITE RACISTS go deaf because they assume "BLACK PEOPLE THINK EVERYTHING IS ABOUT RACE. "
If you think your kind is going pour milkshakes and crap on our heads at the Woolworth's counter AGAIN -- you are mistaken.
This time THE PEACE is 90% on you and pale yours.
Get out there and take care of people that look like you. You keep your lips flapping about peace and unity until you make some headway with people who DO NOT already think like you but DO LOOK like you.
