LINGUIST JOHN McWHORTER ON WHY TRUMP SOUNDS LIKE A NARCISSISTIC PREHISTORIC 12 YEAR OLD NUMBSKULL

It's subtle. But this is hilarious as newscasts go.

PUERTO RICO AND MAINSTREAM NEWS' INSISTENCE ON NORMALIZING WHITE SUPREMACY

The white dominated press in the U.S. is getting better (not great) about not normalizing Trump. But they still resistant to tell it like it is about whiteness even it ought to be obvious.

Every headline about Puerto Rico since Hurricane Maria left the island should have "White Racism" and "White Supremacy" in it.

Every

Single

Headline

Look at the article headline below while keeping in mind that Puerto Ricans were without any electricity and drinking water, yet ignored by Trump for a week as he attacked black NFL players. There was pretty much zero movement toward helping Puerto Rico by our federal government until Trump was criticized. Only the most ignorant beasts among U.S. citizens don't know why.

Trump is ignoring Puerto Rico as much as he can get away with, like they are not U.S. citizens, because Puerto Ricans are NOT-WHITE. headline

The sad suspicion about Trump’s shameful treatment of Puerto Rico
No question the logistics are harder in Puerto Rico. But the 3.4 million U.S. citizens there have long endured second-class status: no voting members of Congress, no presidential vote, unequal benefits and high poverty. Now, the Trump administration’s failure to help Americans in Puerto Rico with the same urgency it gave those in Texas and Florida furthers a sad suspicion that the disparate treatment has less to do with logistics than language and skin color...”
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/the-sad-suspicion-about-trumps-poor-treatment-of-puerto-rico/2017/09/26/5a54cde4-a2ef-11e7-8cfe-d5b912fabc99_story.html?tid=sm_fb&utm_term=.b9a035d19749

As a friend of mine said, " 'Suspicion' my black @$$ "

After everything that's already happened how could the writer of the headline above minimize what's happening with Puerto Rico using the words "sad suspicion" then not name the suspicion in the headline?

I'll tell you how -- White people hate seeing the word "white" in reference to themselves in regards to anything negative. I even saw Bannon called a "Nationalist" in one article instead of "White Nationalist" when "White Nationalist" is already a minimization in itself. Trump and Bannon should both be called "Nationalistic White Supremacists" every single time their names are mentioned

EVERY

SINGLE

TIME

The white press leaving the white out is the reason white people were the only segment of the country surprised by Charlottesville or what came out of TrumpleRacistSkin's mouth in regards to Charlottesville.

Even as the press stops normalizing Trump (too late to keep him from becoming President), the white run newspapers just can't stop themselves from normalizing white supremacy.

Article after article in mainstream newspapers say "Most Americans..."  then compare the ones they called "most Americans..." to blacks and Muslims and other groups in this country as if they are not Americans too because "most Americans..." is code for white people.

Example: "Most Americans feel Black Lives Matter Is The Equivalent Of The KKK"- when the KKK is the group that has terrorized thousands and murdered hundreds of not-white people.

The only people who do NOT feel their lives would be threatened if the KKK came to have a lot of power are white people. Therefore they are pretty close to only ones capable of making such a "mistake."

Corrected Example: "Most Americans" may not be entirely white in this example, but it is predominantly white. This is the one time it's okay to erase a small segment of people of color. Headlines like this should read:

"Most White Americans feel Black Lives Matter Is The Equivalent Of The KKK"

If the white press told white people the truth about their white supremacist leanings, each of these statements and implications from Trump would be easily identifiable as white supremacy to most white people instead of less than half of white people

OBVIOUS SIGNS OF TRUMP'S RACISM

1) Mexicans are rapists

2) His saying the Central Park 5 are guilty despite DNA evidence to the contrary and a confession by another party -- never mind his failing to apologize for taking out an ad to say they should be put to death

3) Hired a person Coretta Scott King considered a card carrying racist to be Attorney General. And she felt so strongly about this that she wrote a letter apposing Jeff Sessions federal nomination in 1986.

4) Pardoned a Racial Profiler "Sherrif Joe"

5) That Muslim Ban he keeps pursuing is really non-white ban (And the press keeps calling it a Muslim Ban when Trump literally said "Ban... Muslims" during his campaign. = normalizing white supremacy)

6) Increased deportations is get non-white people out of here

7) "Build That Wall" is keep those non-white people out of here

8) We wouldn't take one refugee if we wouldn't look like heartless fools means: Those tired, poor, and huddled masses yearning to be free don't have to go back home but those no-money-having, not-white people have got to stay the hell up outta here.

9) "The Opiod Crisis" is a crisis worthy of federal dollars to solve it because it's killing white people at high rates of speed ....as predominantly black, character deficient, criminal, crack users languish in jail even now.

Charlottesville and his "both sides" comment was no where near the beginning of Trump's white supremacy.

And Trump's failure to respond to Puerto Rico as if there are actual human beings that are American citizens living there isn't going to be the end of Trump's white supremacy. There's no "sad suspicion" here. Anybody who's not a beast knows this man is a white supremacist acting like a white supremacist.

The only people that don't know are white people, and I mean a more than those who didn't vote for him.  It's clear that a majority of white people are not comfortable with calling Trump a "Nationalistic White Supremacist" because if they were the white-run mainstream press would be calling Trump a "Nationalistic White Supremacist."

Newspapers follow popular culture and do not report things their biggest audience doesn't want to hear. And that puts them closer to useless than useful for people of color, especially black people.

Five years from now a white news anchor will be cast as heroic and extra intelligent and extra empathetic for seeing just how large a role Trump's white supremacy played in delaying aid to Puerto Rico. The white man or white woman will be a hero for seeing something 5 years too late what people of color see right now.

Most white people only recognize white racism when it's safe to so. And it's safe to so when nothing can be done about the white racism.

Five years from now, white people will be able to pretend that their mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters weren't cheering Trump on Puerto Ricans suffered. They'll pretend they didn't notice the white folks they loved in their own families cheering Trump on as he focused on trying to turn protests against murderer cops NFL into a patriotism issue.

Five years from now, the white pretense in regards to ignorance of Trump's white supremacy will turn out to be Oscar worthy if Puerto Ricans start dying in larger numbers.

White people need to demand that their white dominated press do better. If they'd done this years ago the press wouldn't have normalized Trump right into the White House.

MAD AS HELL SAN JUAN MAYOR CARMEN YULIN CRUZ SAYS WE'RE DYING HERE

Not helping Puerto Rico, and or dragging @$$, after all this time is not about laws and logistics. It's about Puerto Ricans being not-white and needing help from a Narcissistic, Nationalistic, White Supremacist president

POST-CRISIS IS WHEN BEING TREATED AS SECOND CLASS CITIZEN TURNS DEADLY

feeling rebloggy
FROM SLATE

      HURRICANE MARIA
It made landfall on Wednesday, Sept. 20. It destroyed houses, blocked roads, and downed cell towers, making communication to family, friends, and relief workers spotty at best. For days now, residents have also grappled with dwindling supplies of food, water, and gasoline. Everyone on the island is without power as the entire grid was disabled by the storm. Power may not be restored for another six months. Hospitals with functioning generators are filling up.
But President Trump has not issued a statement—or a tweet—since the storm passed, something that did not go unnoticed in a weekend of otherwise bombastic tweets from the president.
The perception of [white run] television news’ indifference to the crisis was also on people’s minds, as debates about the NFL protests and celebrity gossip drowned out the details of Hurricane Maria and its aftermath.

While it is possible for people to focus on two problems at once, the relative silence about the storm led many to conclude that this indifference is perhaps not just a product of Trump but a larger problem with how America has always seen the island [as a colony of brown folks that should be seen, drained of resources, and not heard]

...the glacial pace of Congress’s response is part of an older pattern.
By denying the island statehood, Congress deprives residents of the vote and of certain funds. Puerto Rico’s economic options are further limited by the Jones Act, as the PBS Newshourreported in 2015; the act “requires everybody in Puerto Rico to buy goods from an American-made ship with an American crew.”

WESTERN TOXIC MASCULINITY, WHITE SUPREMACY AND IGNORANCE BASED FOREIGN POLICY COLLIDE IN THE EAST

Kim Jong-Un is threatening to detonate a nuclear weapon in the atmosphere. That hasn't happened on this planet in decades.

Trump has run his ignorant macho mouth to the point that
North Korea's Kim Jong-Un feels compelled to show
us that he is not afraid of the threat-issuing white man in west
who thinks he's in charge of every person in the world
who is not white, male, and from the United States.

And Jong-Un likely has to respond too because it seems like his authority is built on a combination of charisma and force. Trump's disrespecting North Korea's leader in a personal way was the latest idiotic mistake of many.

TRUMP IGNORED WARNINGS TO NOT PERSONALLY INSULT KIM JONG-UN

Jong-Un may not be able to reach the U.S. just yet. Maybe. But he can reach our allies in South Korea and Japan.

Trump doesn't care about our Asian allies, not consistently.

All Trump cares about at the moment is being King Ding-a-Ling because he's male free, white, and over 21 (times 3 plus most of a decade)

I keep hearing on the news that South Koreans are not alarmed at all. If that's true, then they have not been paying attention to the two threads running through most of Trump's encounters. Those two threads have names:

1) Toxic Masculinity
2) White Supremacy

A U.S. Territory, an entire island, just devastated by Hurricane Maria has no electricity or phones and may have no electricity months. But what was Chucklehead McTwitterwit tweeting about yesterday?

His little mind is locked on "ungrateful," disobedient, lucky to be here descendants of black slaves that are making millions of dollars per year (for white male team owners too) yet have the audacity to be upset enough about white cops killing black people at will to refuse to stand for the National Anthem.
Trump is worried about black NFL stars disrespecting "our culture" [read: white culture]  at a time when he ought to be worrying about our Puerto Rican citizens after that terrifying hurricane they just experienced.

But why would he be worried about Puerto Ricans? They aren't white either, no matter how pale their skin is according to white supremacy standards.

South Koreans should also be looking at Muslim Ban as a racial issue. Trump's hatred of all things Muslim is 10 times more about the perception that they are not-white than it is about their religion.

Chucklehead McTwitterwit can't even pronounce books of the bible correctly. He's not a Christian hating people because they are of a different religion.
And I'm not implying he's a bad Christian either. I'm saying he's literally lying about being a Christian. And he probably did so to get the White Evangelical vote (because he didn't know being a white supremacist was enough to get 90% of that group's vote all by itself.)

Dear South Korea

You in danger, girl

You ain't white.

This White Supremacist President THINKS he has nothing to lose by acting the tough guy.

He THINKS he has everything to gain by bombing North Korea in that limited White Supremacist mind of his. And he is accurate in assuming that his Toxic Masculinity points are going to go up when he looks like the tough guy that went to war to take care of a problem

...that he created almost entirely with his mouth.

* * * * *

When we go to war, most of the country is going to line up behind him because we're pretty much not going to have a choice once our lives are actually at risk

...due to a problem he created almost entirely with his mouth

Not that N Korea wasn't a problem before Trump. It was. And, I hate to admit it, but Trump is right. N Korea is going to get nuclear weapons eventually. Iran will to. He's right.

The only thing negotiations do, like the deal Obama did with Iran, is slow these countries down in getting their nuclear we. But what mental midget fails to understand is that this has legitimate value. And he, and the rest of the white boys running the country, cannot value this delaying of nuclear weapons in Iran and N Korea because they are too busy being outraged at non-white people for being disobedient.

If Trump hadn't shot his white supremacist mouth off at the UN, Iran and N Korea would have continued moving toward their goal of achieving parity in nuclear weapons capabilities. But they'd have done so slowly because they were doing so on the sneak. And doing so slowly, they'd have gently slid into the position of being a member of the MADC  (Mutually Assured Destruction Club)

INSTEAD, thanks to Trump's case of macho-mouth, N Korea, Iran, and other countries we probably don't know about yet, are rushing head long into getting nuclear weapons, sooner rather than later, and also thinking about aiming them at the United States

...instead of gently sliding into the MADC

This is worrisome because the head white supremacist in charge who trades in toxic masculinity is quite stupid. Again, he cannot hold two ideas in conscious mind at the very same time.

As he feels his white supremacy and male supremacy is being thwarted he's trying to start an unwinnable war because the thought of S Korea and Japan suffering untold destruction tanking our economy over here cannot occupy his brain at the same time as "how dare shorter, not-white-man defy me"

This is just a guess but, I'm thinking countries all over the globe became terrified by the U.S. abuse of power in a whole new way when we openly went to war in Iraq and tried to bomb it into a regime change under the cover of spreading our brand of damaged democracy, removing WMDs (weapons of mass destruction) in order to get unrestricted access to the second largest oil reserves in the world.

We were supposedly "spreading democracy" when we-the-people hadn't even chosen our own president. The Supreme Court chose Bush Jr. the first time. And then we didn't change horses the second time because we were in the middle to two wars he started.

The Iraq war gave us ISIS. Even republicans will admit that sometimes.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/iraq-war-invasion-caused-isis-islamic-state-daesh-saysus-military-adviser-david-kilcullen-a6912236.html

But the most important thing the Iraq war gave us was decreased standing in the world because The Iraq War gave our enemies and frenemies a whole new level of fear too, a fear that the White-Is-Right, Large-And-In-Charge United States might come in and take over at any time using any old stupid excuse.

Bush Jr. still wins the worst president of this century, so far. And he might be able to give Trump a run for his money at being the dumbest too. But Trump's toxic masculinity based male supremacy and white supremacy motives are currently fueling emotionally unstable decision making.

I do not understand how anyone, even white men, can fail to notice how out of control Trump is.

I actually read an article the other day that said Trump uses racism strategically to do X, Y, and Z.
Nope. That describes Ronald Reagan. He was a white supremacist who used lower-level white supremacy speech to keep the KKK and the like on his side.

Donald Trump is an honest-to-goodness low education white supremacist and male supremacist just like the Kluxers and neo-Nazis that love him.  If he went to high priced colleges at all, his father must have purchased his passing grades. What comes out of Trump's mouth shows he doesn't comprehend anything more complicated than the average 5th grader can comprehend.

And I'm pretty sure that's an insult to 5th graders.

Every white supremacist word that comes out of Trump's mouth comes straight from his cowardly heart. Every slice of macho dumb sh** that flows from his mouth comes from his heart too.

The only time his white supremacy might seem to be issued forth in a  "strategic" way is when he knows another one is attempts at legislation is about to go belly up. But that's just him going to collect applause when he's looking like "a loser," - not strategy.

The morally deficient man now in charge of the United States has the power to turn a lot of this world to dust.

And we should all be afraid because the three branches of the United States Government and our fourth estate (the press) are not functioning well enough or fast enough to stop him.

IF THE BLACK HAT FITS, WEAR IT: OLIVIA POPE, BLACK WOMEN, AND BLACK MEN IN TELEVISION

In case you've been living in an isolated mountain cabin for the last few months, let me be the one to tell you that season 7 will be SCANDAL'S last season.

     From The Hollywood Reporter
"I had conversions with Shonda Rhimes where she has had for a while a sense of how she wanted the story to end," Dungey told reporters Tuesday ahead of ABC's upfront presentation to ad buyers. "She said, 'Look, I really feel like season seven is where I want to wrap up this story, because I always prefer to end a show where you're feeling on top as opposed to letting things fizzle out.'"
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/why-scandal-is-ending-season-7-1004113

IN THE SEASON FINALE OF SEASON 6, OLIVIA POPE BECAME THE HEAD OF B6-13.

IN SEASON 7, OLIVIA POPE WILL BE THE MOST POWERFUL PERSON IN THE WORLD.

I don't think I've ever seen a black woman this powerful on television before. The only thing that comes close is HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER. And Shondaland is responsible for that show too.

To be honest, I don't think I ever appreciated how little black male directors were doing for black women, especially dark skinned black women, until Shonda Rhimes put Viola Davis on our television screens weekly in her other show HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER.

I really didn't.

Lashana Lynch's STILL STAR-CROSSED didn't work out. But ABC didn't exactly put their best foot forward for that show. They put it on after a show I'd never watch --The Bachelorette-- EVEN IF the head of the pick-me-s IS black. And they had the show begin in the middle of summer.

No wonder Shonda is taking Shondaland to Netflix with B.S. like that going on. (More on this later)

Shonda's probably put 3x as many black women behind the camera too. Even Ava DuVernay directed an episode of Scandal before becoming the show runner for show she produced with Oprah, QUEEN SUGAR. And a lot black women are directing that series as well.

I can't wait to see what Olivia Pope's swan song is. The end of Season 6 has set it up so that Season 7 could truly be great. The Olivia Pope character will already to be written down in television history as it is.

Regardless of how little black men have done for black women in television and movies -- dark-skinned black women in particular-- I really would have liked to see a strong black man in Scandal. I'd have loved to see a black love story at some point.

But when Columbus Short was on SCANDAL his character sucked all the light out of the room.

I'm not saying Short's acting was bad or that his character was bad.  He did a good job and I liked his character. Furthermore, I did NOT like the way his character was given the boot on the show at all -- though I had no use for the actor either based on his real life stuff. But the people watching his character made his presence the source of tension and that was before he started having legal troubles off screen.
I actually read one black male comment on social media that said, "She's treating him like a subordinate!" And Short's charter freaking was a flippin subordinate.
Much like Black Lives Matter, when a black man is present, the black women fade are supposed to fade into the background.
(On a side note: I will never forget how Rekia Boyd's death was practically ignored despite her death coming so close to Trayvon Martin's.)

Likewise, when a black man is heroic in a series?  Most of the black male audience and half of the black female audience is wondering why the black male character isn't at the center of the action.

Until HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER came to be, I thought the only way for a black female character to be THE central character was for black male characters to be absent or have two lines every other episode..

In HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER is the show where Shonda was able to keep two black male characters (for a while) at the center of the show and make it work. Yet, SCANDAL has the bigger following because it has more white people at the center of the action.

That's why I'm holding my breathe for HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER at the end of every season. And the way ABC treated STAR-CROSSED (bad or not) I'm glad she's going to NETFLIX.

It's got to be a tricky balance to keep your ratings high on a major network when you want black lead actors. You've got to suck in a white audience to keep your show on the air. Shonda did it though, and kept black women central to most of her stories, THE CATCH (now cancelled) being the major exception.

Shonda's got nuclear-level black girl magic. And since I think Olivia Pope is going down in television history, I hope Shonda can give the Olivia Pope character the close out she deserves at the end of Season 7.

From 13 FACTS ABOUT SCANDAL
GABRIELLE UNION AND TARAJI P. HENSON BOTH AUDITIONED TO PLAY OLIVIA.
Gabrielle Union (BEING MARY JANE) auditioned for the part, then later said she was glad Kerry Washington and Scandal had found so much success, because it led to more work for black female actresses [and black female directors.]
When asked about her audition for the role of Olivia... Taraji P. Henson (EMPIRE) recalled: "When I went in to read for Shonda Rhimes, in my mind I was like, 'This is Kerry Washington. Why am I even in here?' It was hers. It was her job, and she's great in it."

Less than a week after launching, Rihanna's Fenty Beauty is flying off shelves.
While most of Rihanna's mega-successful makeup line has managed to stay in stock, there's one product in particular that is selling out at lightning speed, according to social media, and that's Rihanna's deep [read: dark skinned] foundation shades.

At the time of writing this, six out of the available 10 deep shades are already sold out on sephora.com, though it looks like restocks are happening pretty regularly. Normally, fans react with disappointment, frustration, or even anger when they can't get their hands on a highly anticipated beauty launch. But with Fenty Beauty, the response to the limited availability of deep [read: dark-skinned] foundation has been markedly different, for a damn good reason."

She Let Go

by Rev Safire Rose

Without a thought or a word, she let go.
She let go of the fear.
She let go of the judgments.

She let go of the confluence of opinions swarming around her head.  She let go of the committee of indecision within her.  She let go of all the ‘right’ reasons. Wholly and completely, without hesitation or worry, she just let go.
She didn’t ask anyone for advice. She didn’t read a book on how to let go  She didn’t search the scriptures. She just let go.
She let go of all of the memories that held her back.  She let go of all of the anxiety that kept her from moving forward.  She let go of the planning and all of the calculations about how to do it just right.
She didn’t promise to let go. She didn’t journal about it. She didn’t write the projected date in her Day-Timer. She made no public announcement and put no ad in the paper. She didn’t check the weather report or read her daily horoscope. She just let go.
She didn’t analyze whether she should let go. She didn’t call her friends to discuss the matter. She didn’t do a five-step Spiritual Mind Treatment. She didn’t call the prayer line. She didn’t utter one word. She just let go.
No one was around when it happened. There was no applause or congratulations. No one thanked her or praised her. No one noticed a thing. Like a leaf falling from a tree, she just let go.
There was no effort. There was no struggle. It wasn’t good and it wasn’t bad. It was what it was, and it is just that.
In the space of letting go, she let it all be. A small smile came over her face. A light breeze blew through her. And the sun and the moon shone forevermore.

BLACKS ARE MORE THAN 3 TIMES AS LIKELY TO BE GUNNED DOWN BY POLICE WHILE UNARMED

Feeling Rebloggy

Eighteen academic studies, legal rulings, and media investigations shed light on the issue roiling America.

As the nation reels from a series of high-profile fatal shootings of black men by police officers, many have decried the lack of readily available data on how racial bias factors into American policing. But while it’s true that there is no adequate federal database of fatal police shootings (F.B.I. director James Comey has described the lack of data as “embarrassing and ridiculous”), there exists a wealth of academic research, official and media investigations, and court rulings on the topic of race and law enforcement.
The Hive has collected 18 such findings below. This list is not exhaustive, and does not purport to comment on the work of all police officers. It is, rather, merely a digest of the information available at present. Sometimes, studies and investigations reveal evidence of intentional bias; other studies point to broader societal and institutional factors...
“...evidence of a significant bias in the killing of unarmed black Americans relative to unarmed white Americans, in that the probability of being black, unarmed, and shot by police is about 3.49 times the probability of being white, unarmed, and shot by police on average.”

IS THE RUSSIA INVESTIGATION HEADED FOR AN INDICTMENT?

A pair of new reports on the Russia investigation published Monday night suggest that Donald Trump’s former campaign chair, Paul Manafort, is in very serious legal trouble indeed.
First, CNN’s Evan Perez, Shimon Prokupecz, and Pamela Brown report that federal investigators got secret court orders to wiretap Manafort — at first before the 2016 campaign because of an inquiry into his work in Ukraine, and later as part of the investigation into Trump associates’ ties to Russia.
Second, the New York Times’s Sharon LaFraniere, Matt Apuzzo, and Adam Goldman report that this summer, special counsel Robert Mueller’s prosecutors “told Mr. Manafort they planned to indict him.” They also add the detail that when federal agents searched Manafort’s home in July at the behest of Mueller’s team, they picked the lock rather than announcing their presence in advance.
Together, the reports of wiretaps and the threat of indictment make Manafort’s legal woes — which already looked troubling — appear even more serious.
Manafort is under investigative scrutiny both for matters that preceded his involvement in Trump’s campaign — specifically, whether he appropriately disclosed his foreign work and whether he was involved in illegal money laundering or other financial crimes — and for the central question of potential collusion with Russia during the campaign itself.
