So, somebody please inform the hoteps and their minions that white women aren't wearing their natural hair either.

I realized this one day when I walked into white church late. I snuck in the back and found myself looking at the back dozens of heads, as planned. But I needed to find a white female friend of mine. The white men's hair varied. The white women's hair did not. The back of my friend's dyed blond head looked exactly the same as 100 other white women sitting in the crowd. I tried to figure out which one she was by hair length, but then this usher person started walking toward me to help me, so I had to run, duck, cover, and find a seat quick. 

Needless to say, I didn't find my friend until after the service. I meant to ask her what shade they're all using. But I forgot (chickened out).

A friend of mine, also white, told me a long time ago that most white men are raised wanting a little blond girl friend. That's why there are so many white women with blond hair running around worried about their next hair appointment when all their hair really does is hang there. They have to get those dark roots covered up regularly.

If white women could get their legs shortened so that they could all be petite too, they'd be getting the leg shortening surgery for high school graduation and waiting to ask Mommy-And-Daddy bank for the nose or boob job somewhere near the end of sophomore year in college

So make no mistake. If someone announces The Electromagnetic Pulse will be set off by another country to wipe out all our computers and our economy along with it, and that the pending post-apocalyptic United States is going to make "The Walking Dead" look like child's play for at least a decade AND THEN ALSO ANNOUNCES IT IS ALL STARTING TOMORROW...

white women will make run on water, food, and blond hair dye 

AND

black women will make a run on water, food, spices, and hair extensions.

Don't get it twisted. Even our naturalistas will be running for synthetic hair. And you know why, too. Don't pretend you don't know.

Naturalistas will need synthetic hair for protective styles, braids, buns and such. There's no way we'll be able to get enough oils and conditioners to keep our hair sealed in a post-apocalyptic world, not even enough (gasp) mineral oil.

Of course, we could all go the Michonne route to hair care. But then we'd have to do the big chop once the United States got everything back online. We would not be able to free our hair from 10 years worth locking.

In the final analysis, this all means a sizable portion of the naturalista crowd will be running neck and neck with the relaxer/weave crowd to the same abandoned beauty stores. And if blond hair dye can be found in some of the same stores with black beauty products? Watch out!  White women's foot prints will be left on our backs after they run us down trying to get in there first.

I don't know about you? But I don't have Dania Gurira's face or Lupita N'yongo's face. More than that, my marble shaped head needs vertical lines given to it by hair. So no big chop for me. That means I going to be sprinting to the beauty supply store too.

When The Pulse happens, my high heeled shoes will be clicking on the pavement faster than anybody else's, running so fast that women running ahead of me will hear my clicks coming and think 
the ghost of Flo Jo gaining on them, about to snatch them bald or snatch their soul. I fully expect hysteria, screaming, tears, and a rainbow of hair extensions and boxed hair dyes flying 10 feet into the air as women start trying to snatch one another's ill gotten gains when they're all back out on the street again.

I think I'll plan on wearing a hockey mask to protect my face from long nails.

If Beyonce's Bey Hive is trying to get into the abandoned beauty supply store for their leader? We will all need to think about preserving our own lives and just let them take it all. The Bey Hivers are going to be there for the weave hair, the synthetic hair, and the blond boxed dye too(saving it for after the designer versions run out) The big chop in 10 years won't be that bad. So I'll be a marble head for year. No biggie. At least, I'll be alive.

Product junkies? They're going to have the last laugh. They'll be re-identified as "pre-planners." As pre-planners they'll be further re-identified as "responsible." As responsible people they'll be put in charge of nomadic groups sent out to get food and supplies. The responsible pre-planners that succeed at keeping large camps from starving will eventually be elected to high political positions once the world come back to being normal.

In the hear and now this means I'm being responsible with my money if I buy yet another potentially magic hair conditioner. So what if I don't have any more room in my hair cabinet. This next purchase could lead to me being president one day 10 or so years from now, right?

Richelieu Dennis Knows How To Come Hard Or Stay Home

When you are playing bid whist, you're really not allowed to "talk across the board" (translation: hint to your partner, telling her what card she should play next). But even the most die-hard, anal retentive, rule-follower will allow the other team --when desperate and losing the game-- to call across the board and say, "Come hard or stay home." This means, We're almost done and dead, about to lose; if you have some serious winning cards to play, now is the time.

Richelieu Dennis must know how to play the game because he was on a serious downhill slide not too long ago. He had all but lost black female respect when he put a Shea Moisture ad out that featured white women. An ad that pretty much said, "All Hair Matters" when black women's loyalty to his brand had already made him rich 

And black women were not having it. 

He withdrew that ad faster than somebody pulling their hand back from a hot stove they didn't know was on. And that's as it should have been. 

We are are permanently done with making due with products made for white women's straight, naturally oily hair. 

And we're almost done with middle of the road products that are a little too heavy for white women and way too thin for black women so that the hair product manufacturer can make as much money as possible per product. 

Shea Moisture is ours. And we want it to stay that way. 

I feel pretty secure saying I can speak for at least 75% of black women when I say, we don't care who uses hair care products made for black women--for so long as the white women's added demand doesn't drive the price into the stratosphere. But each and every black product that expects black female support needs to be aimed at afro hair first 

-- same as white hair products are aimed at straight, oily hair first.  

Nowadays, I will pick through black hair products that will work with various afro textures and porosity, sometimes finding things that are a little too light, a little too heavy, or products that just sit on top of my hair --doing nothing-- before, like Goldilocks I find the leave-in conditioner that's just right for the weather. But what I won't be doing anymore is picking through white women's hair potions, many of which that are little more than water, because -- 

I don't have to. 

I have choices.

But I'm glad Richelieu Dennis is making sure that Shea Moisture's products are off my you-are-dead-to-me list because black women need the kind of support he's been dishing out the last couple of years. 

Since the ALL HAIR MATTERS fiasco, Dennis has bought ESSENCE MAGAZINE, making entirely black owned again. He also bought Madam C J Walker's mansion with a vision toward doing what Madam C J did back in the day -- helping black women become entrepreneurs. And now...

    "...the founder of NaturAll Club, Muhga Eltigani, can add her name to that growing list as she announced via social media that Dennis has invested $1 million in her natural hair care line."

I truly am breathing a sigh of relief because Dennis has made an apology to black women that counts through action because I only ever got to boycott at the 90% level; I just couldn't find a good replacement for Shea Moisture's Moisture Retention Shampoo. And not stripping your hair is one the main natural hair care keys to keeping your coils on your head instead of breaking all over the floor.

Whew! I'm glad that quasi-boycott is over. I felt so guilty, looking over my shoulder for black women, tiptoeing into "Tar-zjet" to get my fix.

     Many candidates who are women of colour are motivated by opposition to President Trump. Most run as Democrats, although they may express disagreements with the party’s leadership. But the movement is also shaped by the fact that women of colour are now emerging as the country’s most influential voting bloc.

     According to the US government’s National Center for Education Statistics, black women are now the most educated group in the US, measured by percentage of people with a degree, and they are translating this asset into political action. Black voters made up 29 per cent of the electorate in Alabama’s special Senate election in 2017, with 98 per cent of black women voting for the Democratic candidate Doug Jones, a striking increase from previous elections.
      [Last year,] ...has in many ways been “the year of the woman”. The successful fight of women in Saudi Arabia for their right to drive, the global #MeToo movement, and the uprise of women in Ireland against the abortion ban demonstrate how widespread the struggle for equal and fair representation has become. But the experiences of previous “years of the woman” in the 1970s and in 1992 (the year in which a number of women were elected to the US Senate, and Anita Hill brought sexual harassment allegations against Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas), could suggest some cautious [skepticism.]

ON THE HEELS OF SURVIVING R KELLY DOC CYNTOIA BROWN IS GRANTED CLEMENCY

    A woman who...was a 16-year-old sex trafficking victim when she killed a man in 2004 was granted clemency Monday by Tennessee's governor and will be released from prison.

     Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam granted clemency Monday to Cyntoia Brown, who had been serving a life sentence but who will be released on parole on Aug. 7.
     "Cyntoia Brown committed, by her own admission, a horrific crime at the age of 16. Yet, imposing a life sentence on a juvenile that would require her to serve at least 51 years before even being eligible for parole consideration is too harsh, especially in light of the extraordinary steps Ms. Brown has taken to rebuild her life," Haslam said in his statement.
     Brown will remain on parole supervision for 10 years on the condition she does not violate any state or federal laws, holds a job, and participates in regular counseling sessions. She is now 30 years old...

Cyntoia's Clemency and SURVIVING R KELLY might not be tied together in any way. But I am certain all the talk about men using children for sex, generated by the the R. Kelly documentary on Lifetime didn't hurt.

Black feminists, and other feminists, keeping track of her case and raising her case up was probably one of the keys to her release.

Why Black Women Should Not Forgive Kevin Hart Even If Ellen Does

I think it's kinda funny that not one black woman I know has said word one about Hart's being fired --forced to quit, whatever-- from the hosting The Oscars. 


We just don't care --because it's clear he doesn't care about us. But one black woman did write up a reminder about Hart's anti-blackness* so here it is --  

     ...Hart's primary defenses are: He's a comedian. Comedians push the envelope. He's already apologized. Tweets do not represent the totality of one's character. People evolve. So let's get over it.
     I actually agree with Hart, to an extent. Unfortunately for ‎him his track record and interview with Ellen undermine most of his arguments.
     For starters, his tweets were not isolated incidents. While Hart fundamentally lost the Oscar gig because of his controversial tweets about the LGBT community (specifically, how he might be tempted to hurt his child if he thought he were gay), they are not the only vulnerable population he has a record of demeaning. His tweets about black women have been problematic going back years. Apparently he and David Duke have something in common. They believe your melanin affects your intellect and behavior, so Hart believes darker-skinned women are less competent than lighter-skinned women with money, so he believes we have bad credit and are "broke ass hoes."‎ (Despite his daughter, who is now old enough to read tweets, being darker-skinned.)‎
      So one tweet may be a misstep. Tweets about multiple groups over a period of time, however, does tell me about your character. And tweets like these tell me nothing good....

     Then came other stories — that he frequently groomed young teenage girls into sexual relationships, with the promise of fame.
     Finally, there are the more recent developments — that R. Kelly keeps a cadre of young women against their will at his home, and prevents them from speaking with family or friends. Yet R. Kelly is a free man, who, for all intents and purposes, still has a career and a following of loyal fans. It’s a bizarre story, even by today’s standards.
     Surviving R. Kelly tells this story from the vantage point of the singer’s accusers, as well as some of the people who know him best.
     It is difficult, sometimes wrenching, television to watch. But it is also very hard to turn away from it. And it’s impossible to watch and not wonder a few things.
     Should R. Kelly face more charges than he already has for sexual misconduct? If so, why haven’t prosecutors acted?
     And just as big — how has he been able to maintain his popularity? Why haven’t fans universally turned against him?

Serena Williams Changes Tennis For The Better Again, For Recently Pregnant Women This Time

     Changes to rules of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) will make it possible for Serena Williams to wear her famous black catsuit...

     “Leggings and mid-thigh-length compression shorts may be worn with or without a skirt, shorts or dress,” the new regulations read.
     Williams wore the suit in August after returning from maternity leave nine months after giving birth to daughter Alexis Olympia. The outfit served as a compression garment to prevent the champion from getting the blood clots that almost killed her while she had her baby. She also thought the suit was symbolic of the strength of women.
     Bernard Giudicelli, the hatin’ a** president of the French Open, threw a fit and swore he would ban similar clothing from his matches..."

     Giudicelli said at the time. “I believe we have sometimes gone too far. Serena’s outfit this year, for example, would no longer be accepted. You have to respect the game and the place.”

* * * * * By the way, anybody who thinks France is less racist than the United States should think again. They're just smarter about keeping their ethnoracism hidden. This is why the French make sure they don't take a census that takes into account race and ethnicity. That right -- there's no way to really know for sure how many black, brown, and Muslim people there are in the country. Therefore it's harder to figure out which demographic is poor and/or discriminated against.

And I hear their history books are even more whitewashed than the United States'.

But somehow, in their colorblind society, they've managed to make 60% of the prisoners never-seen-as-white-Muslim at one point -- despite only being 8 to 10% of the total population.

This is likely why that hate-filled Charlie Hebdo magazine  (that likes to target Muslims and black women) is mistaken for satire there.

Giudicelli's verbal attack on Serena just confirmed what I already knew.

CLEMENCY POSSIBLE FOR CYNTOIA BROWN

     Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam said on Monday that he is carefully considering the clemency request for Cyntoia Brown, who was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison in 2004 for killing a 43-year-old man who had solicited her for sex when she was just 16 years old. The Tennessee Supreme Court ruled last week that Brown must serve 51 years before she’s eligible for parole. 

      Prosecutors said that Brown went with Johnny Mitchell Allen with the intent to rob him, but she and her lawyers insisted that she shot Allen in self-defense because she thought he was going to kill her. She also said she went home with him to have sex for money on the orders of her abusive boyfriend, who beat her and forced her into prostitution. In her appeal, she said that she only took money from the victim’s wallet after he was dead because she was afraid of what would happen if she went back to her boyfriend empty handed...

“The other day I came to this conclusion that men brag and women hide," she said about why she hasn't spoken publicly about her huge Netflix deal, even after news reports of her deal being $100 million were "wrong."

THE #TimesUp LEGAL DEFENSE FUND IS USING ITS 22 MILLION DOLLARS TO HELP POOR WOMEN

Women in the entertainment industry began the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund in January. It followed accusations of sexual wrongdoing against powerful men in Hollywood. Those accusations also led to the rise of #MeToo.

In the months since the fund was launched, more than 780 lawyers have registered with the group to provide legal help. More than 3,500 people have asked for help. Forty percent of them are women of color. Two-thirds are poor or near poor.

The women come from many different industries, including building, food services, education and the military.

JERRY BROWN TAKES AFFIRMATIVE ACTION TO ENSURE FEMALE BOARD MEMBERS IN CALIFORNIA CORPORATIONS

"Companies headquartered in California can no longer have all-male boards. 

That's according to a new law, enacted Sunday, which requires publicly traded firms in the state to place at least one woman on their board of directors by the end of 2019 — or face a penalty. 

It also requires companies with five directors to add two women by the end of 2021, and companies with six or more directors to add at least three more women by the end of the same year.

This makes me happy. And I want to be purely happy. But I can't help but think about how there was no screaming about "affirmative action" or "quotas" after this announcement.  And I know why too. 

Despite the photo, this represents progress for white women. Despite white women only being 67% of all women, 98% of these new openings for women will go to white women or people who can pass as white women if they wanted to. 

And make no mistake THIS IS affirmative action. The boards of companies are going to have to take AFFIRMATIVE ACTIONS to go out and find women that are qualified for these positions or STOP PASSING OVER the women already in their organizations.

However, I've never seen a black company where the men shared power to the tune of 50% either so....this is a win for black women working at black companies. And as the population continues to brown, all companies will be more and more open to black and brown women

So I guess I AM happy...mostly.  I guess.

SERENA WILLIAMS LOSING IS NO MORE THE POINT THAN WHETHER OJ SIMPSON DID IT OR NOT

....WHEN IT COMES TO THE RACIST OR SEXIST MOTIVES OF THE WHITE FOLKS IN AUTHORITY

Serena lost a match everybody wanted her to win yesterday. But that's not really the point. The point is that there was an attempt to cheat this black woman --again. 

A lot of people want to talk about how she was going to lose anyway.  Then they want to imply that she wasn't cheated out of anything. Then they want to talk about her behavior.  But you know what?  

Serena's playing badly, appearing destined to lose 

and 

the attempt to cheat her 

**are no more mutually exclusive than the ideas that**

OJ Simpson did it 

and 

white cops also tried to frame him

The thing that matters is not who won or lost but that two black women were cheated during the U.S Open -- and that a black woman's behavior in the face of what looked like an attempt to cheat and disrupt her is getting equal time in the news instead of the blatant unfairness of a referee.
I read an entire article at SLATE that discussed Serena's behavior when she's stood up for herself over the years, against racism more often than not -- and instead of identifying each "behavioral" incident as potentially racism, there's a general statement that Serena faced racism while playing tennis near the end, not attached to any specific incident. I'm thinking the racism the writer remembered to recognize at the end of article is only the n-word being lobbed from the stands -- which Serena has had to face in the past too. 

But let's get back to THE CHURCH OF WHAT'S HAPPENING RIGHT NOW:

Chair umpire Carlos Ramos managed to rob not one but two players in the women’s U.S. Open final.

Nobody has ever seen anything like it: An umpire so wrecked a big occasion that both players, Naomi Osaka and Serena Williams alike, wound up distraught with tears streaming down their faces during the trophy presentation and an incensed crowd screamed boos at the court.

BACKGROUND:
First, Ramos enforced a tennis rule that is almost never enforced period, must less enforced during a U.S. Open. He accused Serena and her coach of trading hand signals.  The coach later admitted he tried to but also stated -- backed up by Chris Evert-- that all coaches do it. (ESPN played a tape that seems to show Serena didn't see the gesture.) 

Then,  angry at herself for not playing well during the second match, Serena smashed her racket. That was worthy of a penalty.

Thirdly, Serena still angry over the referee basically calling her a cheat --same as repetitively drug testing her more than they do other white athletes accuses her of being a cheat-- Serena called the referee a "thief" for penalizing her for cheating. Ramos took the unprecedented step penalizing her for talking back and being sassy(?) by taking an entire game from her too.

All three of these calls --two of them "questionable" calls-- happened during the second match. So the third match never took place due to it haven being given to Naomi Osaka as part of Serena's punishment.

Ramos took what began as a minor infraction and turned it into one of the nastiest and most emotional controversies in the history of tennis,
Williams abused her racket, but Ramos did something far uglier: 

He abused his authority.

Champions get heated — it’s their nature to burn. All good umpires in every sport understand that the heart of their job is to help temper the moment, to turn the dial down, not up...Male players have sworn and cursed at the top of their lungs, hurled and blasted their equipment into shards, and never been penalized as Williams was in the second set of the U.S. Open final.

Compare: Last week a chair umpire got down from his chair to comfort a pale male player instead of penalizing him. 

The career of Nick Kyrgios -- who has been criticized for his attitude and on-court behavior in the past — is under renewed scrutiny after the Australian tennis star received a "pep talk" from the umpire during his match against Pierre-Hugues Herbert at the US Open on Thursday. 

After Kyrgios let two serves pass him by while he was a set and 3-0 down to the Frenchman and reportedly threatened to quit the match, umpire Mohamed Lahyani climbed down from his chair and said he wanted to "help" the 23-year-old Aussie.

Compare: Ramos' own behavior with a brown-skinned, latino player.

Ramos has put up with worse from a man. At the French Open in 2017, Ramos leveled Rafael Nadal with a ticky-tacky penalty over a time delay, and Nadal told him he would see to it that Ramos never refereed one of his matches again.

Ramos is to blame for this debacle. And his motives need to be questioned. 

White folks are entirely certain Ramos motives were purely sexist. But I'm not so sure. Serena is always black and female at the same time. And the "back talk" fits into the same anti-black female stereotype that got Sandra Bland put in jail.

Then again, it could be that Ramos motive was simply that he wanted to take somebody that's always winning down. Some people are like that. I remember the Dallas Cowboys being on a winning streak. I don't even watch sports and I remember that a bunch of folks just wanted them to lose -- they didn't care WHO won.

Again ultimately, the biggest thing Ramos stole was not a win from Serena. 

Most people are telling me she was going to lose no matter what the way she started out. But that's still not the point. Carlos Ramos stole was a victorious moment from Naomi Osaka. He may also have stolen her assurance that she 100% deserves the trophy she won. 

And maybe he stole an honest loss from Serena too. She's old by tennis standards. It will hurt many of us deeply if she doesn't go on from here -- and lose in an clean honest way when her body won't cooperate anymore.

Some people have cried foul because Serena dared to get angry when damn near anybody would have gotten angry in the same situation -- especially after the repeated attacks via drug testing and about her freaking BLACK PANTHER outfit being called "disrespectful" of all things

And it wouldn't surprise me if Carlos Ramos or his supporters insert her lack of being "respectful" into this conversation as well. Black folks not just submissively taking bullsh** is often called "disrespect" by the white supremacist who doesn't want to admit he or she is a white supremacist.

White expectations of peaceful acquiescence in the face of their repeated insults and assaults need to die today. What happened during the Civil Rights Movement, the peaceful responses in the face of violence, lying, and cheating wasn't owed to white folks then. 

And it's certainly not going to happen again.

Even so, I wonder if Serena had known for sure that Osaka was going to win, if she would have spoken to people later. Maybe. Then again, she's too competitive to ever believe it's over until it's over. That's what makes her a champion.  

And nothing Serena woulda, coulda, shoulda done changes the fact that Carlos Ramos made two bad calls and penalized Serena in a way he has not penalized others in the same situation. 

Serena has had to fight for fairness from the white folks of tennis her entire career.

One example of many: In 2004, a line judge "mistakenly" ruled against Serena over and over again --when line mistakes are generally more random. The white gatekeepers of tennis decided to get line cameras to use in the future, but the possibly racist motives of the judge were never really discussed.  

Serena's behavior was though --thoroughly by the white press.

In the end, I'm thinking Osaka, as a brown-skinned woman herself, will be better off for Serena's having spoken up against someone who may have penalized her for being black when he saw her coach making gestures then penalized her for being female (and black)while being willing to talk back to pale male authority.

A lot of white people think this is just about gender and sexism. And it might be. But the white folks of tennis have been coming for Serena all along. And there aren't too many black people in this country who haven't experienced a rule that's never enforced  for white people suddenly being enforced when a black person does it. 

There's a lot of focus on the chair ump's last penalty. But I say we should be looking at the first penalty because that set off everything that came after.  

If the kind of gesture Serena's coach made is standard and never penalized when the coaches of white players do it, then it's the referee that should have been fined. And he should lose his job permanently as well if it's found that it his decision was race based.

I have no idea if his motive was race based. I'm saying nobody else knows whether it was or wasn't, we to know, and that this is worthy of investigation.

And what the male gatekeepers have approved -- contrary to their hypocritical Victorian standards -- are outfits that show plenty of tits and ass. But for some reason that same Victorian standard disapproves of an outfit that covers a black woman from head to toe. Really? By the way? This is hardly the only way Serena is being singled out for harassment by white and/or anti-black tennis officials.

It is on record that Serena is being drug tested more often than other even though -among the famous female tennis players-- nothin' but white girls have been popped with illegal substances in their blood stream and pee.

The white folks of Tennis even police her when she's happy over winning a match -- for a duration of 3 seconds.

Serena was so overjoyed at beating that white blond, cheating, drugged up Maria Sharapova that she looked at her sister Venus and did a spontaneous dance from the 1970s --for approximately 3 seconds. I don't know if the dance is really called the "C-walk" for the "Crip Walk" or not.  

What I do know is that it's been done before by white people and nobody gave a rats @$$

And now an official in France has banned an outfit for its inappropriateness. Inappropriate as compared to what is what I'd like to know. I defy somebody to explain to me how Serena's outfit distracts the other players or the fans.

What really distracts white tennis officials all over the planet is the fact that a black woman is stomping the sh** out of their little white princesses on every tennis court she walks out onto. So they find other ways to harass her. I don't know about you? But I'm sick to death of her wins being some sort of compensation for unchecked white supremacy. Maybe that's just me. But I would really like to find a way to paint white tennis officials across the globe as the petty little racist mofos they are because there almost has to be an entire white supremacist culture running tennis. That's the only way Serena and Venus keep repeatedly being singled out for the dumb sh*t. Serena needs to stay focused on her game. I'm sure she'll let this go because as racist b.s. goes this is petty as hell as compared to her having to battle OBVIOUSLY wrong calls during actual tennis matches. But the rest of us need to have her back. We need to stomp white racism based decisions, petty or not. We need to find a way to make these jackals lose money because that is the only language the white supremacist in denial about being a white supremacist understands. In the mean time, maybe we can tell French Tennis Federation President Bernard Giudicelli that showing all the tits and ass you can --even if neither T nor A are any bigger than an A-cup -- is no longer acceptable. It's 2018. It should no longer be a goal for the women of tennis to walk out of the locker rooms looking like they are headed for a swim suit competition or a mud wrestling match instead of a tennis court. If patriarchy is dismantled along with the white supremacy in tennis, maybe it wont be the spandex jumpsuits that'll be banned next time?
