Can Believing That Life Is Fair Make You A Terrible Human Being?

"BELIEVING THAT LIFE IS FAIR MIGHT MAKE YOU A TERRIBLE PERSON" is the title of a Guardian Article by Olivia Burkeman that I haven't read yet.

The book's subject is regarding something the author calls "Just World Hypothesis"

I haven't done anything but skim the article yet because the title all by itself so describes a conversation I had with an unaware, card carrying racist a few years back.

She was trying to become less racist but having very little success precisely because of...

HER BELIEF THAT LIFE IS BASICALLY FAIR
This is exactly what the worst of unconscious racists have in common, including the ones most likely to willfully not see the pattern of behavior continued by the Zimmermans, Slagers, and Pantaleos. They think life is fair even though, they and other people will claim to understand and believe the words "life is unfair."

Parents start saying these words "life isn't fair," to children young at a fairly young age in an effort to be good parents. But many racists (and sexists) fundamentally believe in their hearts of hearts that UNFAIRNESS has been distributed unequally.

Saying that
"unfairness has been distributed equally"
has the same meaning as
"life is fair"

But many do not believe this. Know why? Because many people really do believe that life is fair, despite the words  "life is unfair" leaving their lips so often as an empty platitude.

Some of the privileged, especially the white privileged, only believe in unequal distribution of life-unfairness when person X tells them that they are a member of a tribe starving to death on the other side of the planet. But a person that believes person X about their tribe will deny all day long that unfairness is distributed unequally right here in the United States.

UNEQUAL DISTRIBUTION OF
UNFAIRNESS & RACISM

When you do not believe

that unfairness can be distributed unequally
within your own area or your own country,
you start making justifications
for why those people that are victims of x
while my people are not victims of x.

If everybody else

has it just as good or bad as you do,
then it must be that
those people
did something to bring x on themselves.'

In contrast, if another set of victims called "y"

look just *just like us*
then this is point at which well
something real and really bad must have happened
and might ALSO happen to US, (me and my group.)

And when something bad happens to me-and-mine or somebody that looks like me-and-mine, then justice must be done, someone must be punished!  Laws must be changed....if policeman are killing people at will and getting away with it!

There is so much of just-world-theory inside, outside and weaving through unconscious racism and unconscious misogyny in the United States that I wonder if we'll ever know everything that happened to black women who have been shot by police, people like Miriam Carey

UNEQUAL DISTRIBUTION OF UNFAIRNESS & SEXISM

Black women haven't gotten nearly the time, attention, and research when they've died in police custody...mostly because the black community does not make stories of police murder of black women go viral nearly as quickly as it does police murder of black men.

And it's hard to make the argument in an environment where, not only do black people think unfairness is distributed equally between black men and black women, between light-skinned blacks and dark-skinned blacks.

The black community is also a location where there is a phony but prevalent assumption that black men endure from white supremacy more and that the sexism and misogyny that black women endure is minimal-to-nonexistent --this, despite high rates of black female death due to domestic violence.

CONCLUSION: UNEQUAL DISTRIBUTION OF UNFAIRNESS

It is true that everybody has problems. But everybody doesn't have the same number of systemic social ills such as racism, sexism, colorism, etc.

And even within a demographic where individuals are enduring the same number of systemic social ills, the individuals can have differing amounts of family support, disposable income, etc. A lot of things, that are too long to list here, can make a large difference in an individual person's ability to deal with whatever has been put on their plate to deal with.

Something to keep this in mind for the rest of your life: Life is not fair because u
nfairness is not fairly distributed.

COONING FOR COSBY DESPITE WHITE BROMANCE

Dear Coons For Cosby,

Bill Cosby hates you. He hates you for doing anything that reminds white people of any stereotype white folks created to demean us as black people. The truth of this is in The Pound Cake Speech and in a half dozen Cosby speeches beyond that one.

"...he’s an unfathomably wealthy and popular man filled with animus for black people, for black women, for poor black people, for black boys, for black teens, for black men, for black mothers who happen to be unmarried, for the children of black mothers who happen to be unmarried, for black people with “black-sounding” or “Muslim-sounding” names, for black men and boys without belts, for black men and boys who wear baseball caps backwards, for black men and boys killed by the police, for black women and girls who are sexually active, for black Christians, for black people who use AAVE, for black people arrested by the police, and for the parents of black people arrested by the police."
Source: https://verysmartbrothas.theroot.com/bill-cosby-hates-you-1829330147
Bill Cosby hates you even more for doing anything to remind him that he's not as white as any white man.

And if he had been put on a jury, he'd have put your black @$$ in jail for almost anything under the sun if you where wearing a hoody in an inappropriate location or had your pants hanging halfway off your butt anywhere in these-here United States.

And this is precisely why so many white men LOVE COSBY as much as you do, if not more.

That is, many white men and Bill Cosby agree on the subject that black people are defective.

Most white men and Bill Cosby agree that white and almost-white women are the only attractive women on earth.

The majority of white men --2/3rds of which consistently vote republiKKKlan-- and Bill Cosby also agree that women are nothing, just vessels to be used sometimes sexually.

That's why, when a black person capes for Cosby, what they are actually doing is "cooning."
Don't believe me? Put your emotions aside and read on.

EVIDENCE OF THE WHITE BROMANCE

1. White men have protected Bill Cosby from these rape charges for decades.
Or do you think stan'-by-your-man Camille Cosby got that done somehow, all by her lonesome?
Nah, son! White men protected Cosby because Cosby was making them tons and tons of money with movies and television shows he was creating. And, again, white men loved Cosby for every single one of those black self-hatred speeches.
2. More importantly white men don't care about the rape of white women.
Find video of last week's Kavanaugh Supreme Court "job interview" so you can watch white men fake some concern about what happened between Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and Supreme Court hopeful Brett Kavanaugh when she was just a teenage girl.

3. You know what the clincher is? Cosby's sentencing last week.
The thing that proves white men love Cosby and kinda despise their own white women is that Cosby only got 1.6 months in prison per woman he raped, despite the vast majority of them being white and with the most of the rest of them nearly as pale as Camille.

4. Besides, if white men did NOT LOVE Cosby's black-people-hating ass, they'd have pulled an OJ on him.

That is, they would have put Cosby in prison for DECADES for ALL the white women he raped not just the one they convicted him for, same as OJ got put in prison for his wife's murder under that half-way bogus-ass robbery charge.

BUT THE BROMANCE COULD NOT HAVE OCCURRED
IF COSBY hadn't embraced whiteness from the very start

A. Cosby loves whiteness
FOUND THE PALEST WIFE HE COULD FIND
B. Cosby loves whiteness-
ALL THE TEENAGE GIRLS EXCEPT ONE in...
  • THE COSBY SHOW,
  • A DIFFERENT WORLD
... were light-bright biracial actresses
C. Cosby loves whiteness
HOME AWAY FROM HOME WAS THE PLAYBOY MANSION
D. Cosby loves whiteness
POUND CAKE SPEECH AND BEYOND
Again, white men love Cosby right back
They kept him out of prison when 12 women accused him of rape right along Andrea Constand in the early 2000s. And when Hannibal Buress brought the rapes back to light in 2014,Cosby didn't go to jail until 2018 -- for what will wind up being a hot minute. And they didn't pull an O J on Cosby when they could have.
And if I'm wrong, I'm still right.

If Cosby serves the whole 10 year sentence instead of the 3 year minimum as assumed, he still only gets 5 months per woman, most of them white women.

None of this white male hatred and disrespect for white women would be shocking to you if you knew your Black Female History.

Ida B Wells told us nearly 100 years ago, that rape accusations on the white supremacy battlefield is a game played between men.
When Wells investigated the lynchings of black people in the early 20th century, more often than not she found out the dead black man in question had something a white man wanted to steal or destroy.
When white men were inches from being called out on their theft and murder in front of British investors in cotton (for example) and others from outside the American South, white men find some white woman to claim she'd been raped.
However, a lot of times Ida B Wells found that there wasn't any white woman involved at all. To cover up the murder, white men would put a rape accusation in the white run newspaper without even finding an white woman to play the role of victim.
https://blackchickrocked.blogspot.com/2018/04/rape-accusation-game-best-played.html

It is more than a little ironic that so many black people are STILL trying say white racism is the reason Cosby is in jail when it's very likely it was Cosby's repeated appeals to white superiority and white male belief in male superiority that came together to save Bill Cosby from getting real prison time.
Many if not most white men, black men, and brown men still walk arm-in-arm against women when it comes to protecting rapists. And they almost always have white, black, and brown pick-me-s backing them up.

Cosby, McTwitterwit, Kavanaugh, R. Kelly
All of this is why the Toadstool Teenie Weenie is president and why R. Kelly is still running around free, black folks demanding his music be accessible on music streaming sites.
The excuse many black people use to protect R. Kelly, despite the very young age of his black female victims, is the same as the excuse they use for cooning for Cosby: They want black men to be able to rape black women without consequences same as white men do.
But this is an inequality many black women have decided they can live without. Many of us are happy to put every black male rapist we can find under the prison -- regardless of what white women do with their rapists in their communities.
By the way, too many people, including patriarchy soaked female people, have made the point that the women Bill Cosby raped wanted something from him.
All I can say to that is, "No kidding."
Acting is a  jobs where networking and finding connections are involved. And a lot of that networking takes place at people's homes, hotel rooms, and restaurants.
As quiet as it is not kept, men approach other men when they want something too. They're just a lot less likely to wind up raped because they found themselves alone with a powerful man posing as a harmless father figure.
The days of a woman only being able to network in an office space while a man in the same career is able to make 4 times as many contacts with the same powerful man (able to help his career) by going to a bar, a restaurant, the man's home, or the man's hotel room are over.

The thing that's not over yet is the powerful man's ability to rape with impunity upwards of 95% of the time.

CONCLUSION
Cosby, Bill Cosby What kind of black men cape for Cosby? Fat Men,
Skinny Men Men that climb on rocks Tough Men,
Silly Men Even men with chicken pox love 2 cape 4 Bill Cosby

...the man that loves to white

Despite my concern being centered on the black community, I acknowledge that in the era of #MeToo all women need to hang tough together.

If we don't Brett Kavanaugh is going to protect all rapists of all races from the highest court in the land.

In a week or so, maybe less, we're all going to see how powerful #MeToo is or isn't under the GRAB EM BY THE PUSSY PRESIDENT. Kavanugh will prevail despite the multiple women accusing of sexual assault and sexual misconduct or he won't.

THE NEW JIM CROW & 13TH: REDUCING AND OMITTING BLACK WOMEN'S STORIES FOR AN ACCEPTED FALSEHOOD

That falsehood is black men are more affected by racism then black women. It just looks that way sometimes because black men have been doing all the telling of current events and history for so long...while refusing to look at certain aspects of the differences between men and women (sans race) when it's beneficial to do so

MEN, WOMEN, AGGRESSION, AND JAIL
Men go to jail a lot more than women.  For me, it's easy to suppose that this is because men are more aggressive than women. And it's fairly incredible to me that some people will claim they don't see evidence of this in our society -- regardless of male aggression's source.

For decades if not centuries people, especially male people, have said that men are more "assertive" than women.
  • Men and women of yesteryear and this-year will agree when you're talking about men being "go-getters" at work or at play (sports, dating)...if they're not feminists. But when you talk about men being more "aggressive," these same men and women hang back to figure out if you mean "aggressive" in the negative or positive sense before they'll decide to agree or disagree.
If you say men are aggressive at work, male and female people (sans feminists) will agree all day long that they are. Some feminists will argue about whether this  "assertiveness" or "aggressiveness" should be entirely attributed to sociology or not

But I say men are more aggressive, whatever the source.

Comparing Aggressions

Men have put women down for "arguing with one another" for decades on end. That may be comparatively true in one sense. But I think women being able to argue is a positive, not a negative.
The vast majority of women CAN argue strenuously, loudly, and for a longish time. The worst thing that will happen -- more often than not-- is that they'll stop talking to one another.  When men start hollaring at each other, everybody backs up because they know these men are seconds from coming to blows.
When men are politicians arguing with other men that are politicians, those "blows" are "wars."
Men are more aggressive.
And people who are more aggressive go to jail more often.

Whatever you think the aggressiveness of men is based on -- and it is "aggression"-- men are more aggressive in most all areas of life. Men are the ones that like sports where hitting is involved; it is men that leave the vast majority of dead bodies behind when there is domestic violence; men are the ones robbing most of the houses; men are the ones doing most of the murders.

This is true regardless of race and regardless of country.

On average aggressive white men, here, there, and everywhere out-strip white women at doing crime by a factor of 6 to 1 in most western countries.

CRIME & PRISON: A WORLD WIDE GENDER GAP
There are 84,731 people in prison in Britain and according to the latest figures, 80,915 of them are men. Less than five per cent of this country’s prison population is female, and the trend is similar elsewhere in the western worl
Prisons in Britain: 95% are men; 5% are women
Prisons in France: 3% are women; 97% are men
Prisons in Germany 6%  are women; 94% are men
The global median [for women in prison] is 4.3 per cent, according to figures from the International Centre for Prison Studies.
Source
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/women/womens-life/11342408/Are-men-natural-born-criminals-Prison-numbers-dont-lie.html

The same is true of African American men when you compare them to African American women. Black men go to jail many- times-more as often as black women SIMILAR TO white men go to jail many-more-times as often as white women. In fact, white men go to jail 12 to 13x more than white women WHILE black men "only" go to jail 6 times as often as black women.

Therefore, there is no justification for attributing the high numbers of black men in prison as compared to black women to "black men experiencing more racism." The gap between black men and black women in jail is about gender, not race -- same as all other demographics.

If male aggressiveness of white men had them going to jail twice as often as white women but black men were going to jail eight times as often as black women, then maybe we'd have to look at black men experiencing "more racism."
But that's not nearly the case.
Men are nearly always upwards of 94% of those going to prison regardless of country. Men are always many multiples more of the people in jail than the women regardless of race or country.
You can see the racism effects of who is sent to prison when you compare black men to other men, including white men SAME AS you can see the racism effects when you compare different demographics of women in jail

In other words, the racism that leads to black men going to jail 6 times as often as white men shouldn't be seen as ANY MORE IMPORTANT than black women going to jail 6 times as often as white women.
  • This gap between black women and white women has been decreasing in recent years. White women have been closing the gap between themselves and white men and every other demographic. They are going to jail more and more often for whatever reason. (It could be due to the near economic crash of 2007/2008. When people are broke, desperation, the willingness to be aggressive and crime probably increases.  Since President Obama had brought unemployment down so low --for white people anyway, white female criminality may decrease; black women going to jail for being black may go back to being 6x as often as white women -- if white racism constant and increasing under Trump. We'll see. )
What black men experience from white men,
that leads them to go to jail more often than white men
is based on racism for sure.
But I'd also guess that, in part,
what black men experience from white men
is also based on white men expressing
a hyper-masculininity type competitiveness
that's "normal" in a patriarchal society

I'll never forget seeing video of that white cop that grabbed a black man by the shirt and held on to him while "just talking" to him...while that black man was NOT under arrest.
The black man took off his shirt trying to get that white cop's hands off him. That white cop grabbed him again anyway. To the black man's credit, he didn't take the bait. He did not punch that white cop's lights out like that white cop deserved.
That white cop was communicating in a type of hyper-masculinity competitive language, "My dick is bigger than yours. I have power over you. You can't do anything about it."  I can't help but think that cowards like Darren Wilson are expressing the same thing when they shoot unarmed black men that "don't know their place." And I think a lot of wars and dropping bombs are men expressing the same things to one another.
By the way, I don't think it's anywhere near a coincidence that white cops starting shooting black people, mostly men, like they were going out of style while the most powerful man in the land was black -- President Obama.  A black man with power over all white men, was something some white men could not stand still for....some, as cops, shot black people. Other's voted for an overt racist to be president the very first chance they got.
Only time will tell if I was right about this: It might be evident quite soon in the fact that cops shoot a lot fewer black and brown men now that the rich white Supremacist is president; when white people are scared due not having power, hey get violent. The authorities, the cops, the leading edge of white supremacy ought to be calmer now while the white joe six packs are emboldened to more overt acts of racism. We'll have to wait and see.
But I digress

Men are more often perpetrators of crime and more often victims of crime because - unlike women - they participate in aggressive and/or high risk behavior.  High Risk Behavior: In general, women don't go places at 3AM alone. Men will. That, for example, is one reason black men are more often in vulnerable positions when white cops decide to abuse their power.

In other words, "experiencing more racism" is NOT the main reason black men go to jail more often than black women.
Black men versus black women is not the comparison you make if you want to talk about whether white supremacy is having more or less of an effect on convictions and jail terms. Instead you compare one male demographic to another male demographic. You compare men to men AND you compare women to women

Black men go to jail 6 times as often as white men.
Black women to go jail 6 times as often as white women.

Therefore books like Michelle Alexander's THE NEW JIM CROW and Ava DuVernay's 13TH should have focused on the incarceration of black women just as intensely as they did the incarceration of black men.

"Racism against black people" is not and never has been synonymous with "Racism against black men."

The Increase Women In Prison and The Browning Of Women in Prison

I was disappointed in Ava for leaning into this idea that black men's suffering racism is so very different that it justifies the erasure of black women. But in DuVernay's defense, I felt like 13th was a video version of Michelle Alexanders "THE NEW JIM CROW" and other black books on black history and black current events.

I've yet to read a through comparison of how and when black women go to prison as compared to white women. So DuVernay didn't have nearly as much pre-fabbed material to use. But that's not much of an excuse for someone as educated and accomplished as DuVernay. Documentaries should cover new ground, no regurgitate someone else's mistakes.

The only place I've read a seemingly equal treatment of black women and black men in black history books is when a black feminist did the writing -- and even black feminists can make mistakes and not focus on black women enough.  And Ava DuVernay, I'm sorry to say, just proved this.

BLACK MALE FRAGILITY EXPLOSION OVER SERENA WILLIAMS ENGAGEMENT

Feeling Rebloggy
[R]eports that Serena Williams had announced her engagement to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, [came] to the surprise of just about anyone...
The relationship, which had pretty much been a secret to most, quickly went viral for all public consumption. A moment that should have been met with congratulations for the greatest athlete of all-time soon was hit with the shattering sound of angry keystrokes of black men as their egos and fragile masculinity crashed at the intersection of Twitter and Facebook. One headline even read, “Drake and Common’s ex gets Engaged.”

Apparently, the fragility of black masculinity happened to forget the name of the most decorated woman in sports history, as her engagement, for whatever reason, seemed to be a direct attack against their manhood.
If you haven’t guessed it already, Alexis Ohanian isn’t black, and black men made their grievance clear: their ‘Black Queen’ had betrayed them. These are probably the same black men secretly living under the Kanye West motto of “And when you get on, he’ll leave your ass for a white girl.”

OWNERSHIP OF BLACK WOMEN'S BODIES AS MEASURED BY 3 TV SERIES

OWNERSHIP OF BLACK WOMEN'S BODIES AS MEASURED BY 3 TV SERIES
Feeling ReBlOGGY
WHAT CAN BE GAUGED
BY THE RESPONSE TO
- SCANDAL
- HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER
- EMPIRE

SCANDAL:

...Olivia Pope is a fictional character, a Black woman, who was not of a certain hue, who is portrayed as not only the show’s lead, but an intelligent, educated, sharp, beautiful, and desirable woman, who was (the last few episodes hint to the fact that it may not be over) involved in an extramarital and interracial affair with a United States President; was met with a plethora of insults. She was a slave, a bed warmer, race traitor, White man’s whore, and was seen as despicable....

EMPIRE: The response to Cookie Lyons, portrayed by Taraji P. Henson has been completely different than the response to Olivia Pope...

She gave birth to three sons for a man, and hustled–dealing drugs to help provide for him, and to help him jump-start his music career; and she eventually did 17 years in prison for him, 17 long years where he essentially abandoned her, leaving her youngest child, who was a baby when she was imprisoned....

No, Luscious did not bother to take Lil’ Hakeem on trips to visit with his mother. Where Luscious was the only man that she had sex with before going to prison...and still the man was not staying in touch and putting anything on her commissary!  Even after all of this, she still loves Luscious, and still let him back inside of her — literally.
Cookie is accepted and loved, because she was/is willing to continue a legacy of Black women suffering and putting themselves last...

ON WHAT IS REQUIRED TO PROTECT A SERIAL RAPIST

Background:  "Bill Cosby testified in 2005 that he got Quaaludes with the intent of giving them to young women he wanted to have sex with, and he admitted giving the sedative to at least one woman and "other people," according to documents obtained Monday by The Associated Press.
Cosby has been accused by more than two dozen women of sexual misconduct, including allegations by many that he drugged and raped them in incidents dating back more than four decades. "

Bounce TV has pulled Cosby show from it's lineup effective immediately

http://blogs.indiewire.com/shadowandact/bounce-tv-pulls-cosby-series-20150707

The reason some people are still confused as to how Cosby got away with this for so many years as a black man is that they truly do not believe that money is the key to all ugly things racial.

   MONEY was the motivation for
- the justification for slavery (believing other human beings not human being good for free labor)

-the justification for Slavery Part II (a.k.a official Jim Crow in the South and Unofficial Jim Crow in the North)

-the justification for Lynching (theft)
While white newspapers reported the reason for lynching black men was the rape of white women, Ida B Wells learned in the 1890s and 1900s that lynching of black people (mostly men) was about finance and romance but not rape. That is, she found that less than 1/3 of lynchings even MENTIONED the rape of a white woman - and some of these so called "rapes" were actually interracial relationships.

White men running white newspapers were actually using story of rape of white women to cover up the taking stores, businesses, land, and political power. And the cover up was necessary in order to get the North and Europe to invest in a southern United States devastated by Civil War.

Ida B Wells actually published her research in a few books, available to this day.  The NAACP would use her methods to research lynching more than a decade later.

On the surface, it appears Bill Cosby is a prime black target for immediate attack if he was raping white women. It seems like he should have been caught long ago, long before he had a chance to rape two dozen.  And he was raping white women in years where lynching for rape was hardly unheard of.
These are two of the three main reasons why some people insist, despite two dozen accusations, that these rape accusations by white women are, in reality, a high-tech lynching of Bill Cosby.

When attempting to defend Cosby, the high-tech lynch crowd tends to e-race the black women who have also made accusations.
But even if the entire field of Cosby accusers was made up of white women, according to Ida B Wells, it wasn't white women who did the most of the lying the first time lynching of black men was a national past time.  So there's no reason to assume they are now (shooting of unarmed black people, lying about being raped by Cosby)

Sexism ensures that white women, by themselves, don't have the necessary power.  Sexism also ensures that most women are very, very selective about when, where, and to whom they will admit to being a rape victim (<--the third main reason for disbelief. To this day, I doubt that I would UNLESS I could convince myself I would stop another from being raped. )

Even if I, like some others, were to decide that sexism is some sort of fictional issue (like racism is for many white people), I would still have to accept how the basic facts come together. It would be nearly impossible for two dozen women to make up the same story, spread over decades and hundreds of miles --some of them even admitting they are unclear on the details of what happened after waking up half-dressed. In other words, all these women can't be lying.
Not all of them. Not even most of them.

This means Bill Cosby must be lying. That is why I, like many others, knew Cosby had drugged and raped long before Bill Cosby's testimony was exposed.

Still, I don't think that Bill Cosby is a lucky, black unicorn in that he just raped white women while white supremacy looked away while he did it. He's not a unicorn, but he's no ordinary black man either.

He is rich but he is also famous. He's been famous since the 1960s because white people are comfortable with him. And he joked his way through white comfort into a decades long career. Cosby
was even allowed to go to the very white playboy mansion, perform there, and ogle white women openly in years where that was shocking and frowned upon if not borderline deadly --for the ordinary black man.
Cosby's fame aside, I still believe that nearly all things racial in this country can be traced to greed for money. And Bill Cosby is no exception to this rule.

In the 1890s, the easiest way for a white person to get a black person's money was to steal it or burn down your black competitor's business. In the 1990s, if you're white, large and in charge, you let that black man continue performing. And if that same black man recites something like the "pound cake speech" you step up and defend  your non-monetary interests too.

I haven't done extensive research of the timing of Bill Cosby rape accusations, but from what I recollect about the dates I read in various news articles, it seemed like the rape accusations clustered near the peaks in his career.  So with the Cosby admission in our mental back pocket, this might also mean Cosby was making so much money for his bosses that they were willing to protect him.
The circumstantial evidence all leans in the same direction too.
The paleness of his wife might confirm Cosby's preferences in women or be a coincidence. But his making jokes about the rape accusations on stage made me feel like he doth jest and protest too much. Cosby's rape accusation jokes in January 2015,  made me feel the same way as I did when I heard O J wrote a book titled, "If I Did It." Stupidity may explain a multitude of sins, but it's still unlikely for innocent people behave this way. Guilty people who believe they are untouchable, however, routinely behave in this way.
And if Cosby believed that he was untouchable, then other people knew. After watching what happened to O J, Cosby couldn't possibly believe that money alone would save him.  In order to be a successful serial rapist while not limiting himself to black women, Cosby had to:

1) believe that he was well insulated by white protectors making money off him

2) believe that the black desperation that desires to see other black people succeed when so many are held back would shield him (by the way, when this black desperation is clearly identified, the internal racism sufferers tend to shout "CRABS IN A BARREL!!! at ear shattering decibels to stop all talk of what SUPER RICH black person x has done wrong)

3) depend upon the discounting of women's voices;

4) depend upon the black community's e-race-sure of black female accusers altogether

I wonder if those who continued to go to his shows after two dozen accusations were made are still laughing now?

For me, this isn't finished. I want to know who else knew and when.
It took Phylicia Rashad a long time to be dragged kicking and screaming to half-heartedly defend Cosby, a man who is probably responsible for 80% of what she owns because he hired her to play his wife. You don't half-step to defend someone who's changed your life, not if you think they are innocent. And if Rashad suspected him, then other people knew. And the people that knew should pay for their crimes as well.  And if it isn't a crime to know of a specific rape and keep it to yourself, then  maybe it's time to change the laws so that this failure to report can more easily be identified as "accessory after the fact" behavior.

I consider this entire current episode in black history as an example of why racism does not trump sexism or vice-versa. What happens to black women was erased again. Anita Hill was ignored and we, for the most part, supported Clarence Thomas's appointment.  And now we've held this new-old monster to our breast.

If some still don't care about the rapes so much, care about the fact that this monster told us that we, as black people, are inferior. Care about the fact that we believed him because we mistook black-person-with-success for "good"and "intelligent," yet again -- when acknowledging the rapes could have been used as a reason to flush the opinions of this
hypocritical, internalized-racism suffering @$$ down the toilet where they belong.

Bill Cosby feels superior to women enough to rape them. And he feels superior to black people too.
Clarence Thomas feels superior to women, enough to sexually assault them. And he feels superior to black people too. But Clarence Thomas is a gift that keeps on giving for a lifetime appointment.

So, how many more times are we going to ignore what happens black women then be surprised when he or she comes for the rest of us, especially black men? Isn't this much like white people ignoring (then manipulating) "the drug problem" until it finally started killing middle-class white America in the 1980s? What is it going to take for some of us to understand that the superiority that comprises racism and sexism travel along the very same paths and damages us all?
