Reading this, I recall a white Texas trooper’s encounter with the black woman he pulled over for failure to signal a lane change. As the traffic stop became a confrontation that ended with Sandra Bland face down on the side of the road, she asked Brian Encinia, over and over, whether what he was doing made him feel good.

‘‘You feelin’ good about yourself?’’ she asked. ‘‘Don’t it make you feel good, Officer Encinia?’’

After asking the same question Nietzsche asked, the question of why justice would take this form, she came to the same conclusion.

FREDDY GRAY TRIAL #1: AUDIO ADDED TO ARREST VIDEO AND LEAVES JURORS SHAKEN

The beating and arrest of Freddy Gray appears to have taken place before William Porter, currently on trial for his death, was involved.

But the arrest videos, one of which was taken by a friend of Gray's, was shown in court a few days ago.

"The first cellphone footage shown in court was a video taken by bystander Kevin Moore. That video has been shown on a loop on the news, with footage of Gray as his legs go limp and bike-patrol officers hold him on either side. This video, however, includes audio that the public hasn't heard. In it, a police officer has Gray on the ground, handcuffed; and while it's not shown on the video, Gray is allegedly hit with a stun gun repeatedly. It's difficult to distinguish who's speaking as a voice yells, "Why are they tasing him like that? Wondering why he can't use his legs? Don't worry, we recording this s--t."

As the audio played, some jurors were visibly shaken. Gray's mother, Gloria Darden, wiped her eyes quietly throughout Ross' testimony but began sobbing loudly by the end of the second grainy cellphone video, which wasn't as clear for viewing but had audio that captured the emotion of the moment. Ross can be heard on the video saying, "Hey, can we get a supervisor here, please!"

Without anesthesia, Lucy was the first to bear the operation on her hands and knees while 12 visiting doctors watched Sims’ experimental procedure. According to Sims, her bladder had fallen, leaving an opening between the bladder and vagina approximately 2 inches in diameter. He referred to the operation as being on the “…eve of a great discovery…,” and said it was, “… tedious and difficult…” (237).

Sims made improvements on the instruments he constructed as he worked. Eventually, he inserted a piece of sponge inside the neck of Lucy’s bladder and sewed it up. Naturally, within days she developed what Sims referred to as “blood poisoning” (238), and became deathly ill. After 5 days, he cut open her sutures to remove the sponge, but it had hardened. Suffering from inflammation and infection, Sims wrote that he thought, “Lucy’s agony was extreme,” and “She was going to die.” (238). However, Lucy lived and Sims continued his experimentation. 

Afterwards, Sims then moved on to the other women, Anarcha and Betsy, allowing Lucy time to heal in between surgeries. The process of experimentation continued for four years with the women solely under Sims’ care....

FREDDIE GRAY TRIAL #1: WILLIAM PORTER

Porter, who is black, is the first of six Baltimore police officers to go on trial in connection with Gray's death. The jury that will judge him reflects the city's population, with eight blacks and four whites.

Although Porter's trial isn't being televised or tweeted live, it will be closely followed over the next two weeks. Judge Barry Williams has said he expects a verdict by December 17.

Who would'a guessed that a black woman locking herself out of her own home would look so much like a scene from Thelma and Louise?

Fay ells had just gotten back home after playing soccer and found that she had locked herself out of her apartment. Soon after the locksmith got her inside, the Santa Monica police came to arrest her for breaking in.

A white man decided he didn't recognize her, called the police and leading edge of white supremacy came to get her, guns drawn like they were looking for Thelma, Louise, and their AK-47 toting twin sisters.

When Wells was dragged outside in handcuffs she counted a total of 19 police officers

Wells wrote:

"It didn’t matter that I told the cops I’d lived there for seven months, told them about the locksmith, offered to show a receipt for his services and my ID. 

It didn’t matter that I went to Duke, that I have an MBA from Dartmouth, that I’m a vice president of strategy at a multinational corporation.

It didn’t matter that I’ve never had so much as a speeding ticket. It didn’t matter that I calmly, continually asked them what was happening.

It also didn’t matter that I didn’t match the description of the person they were looking for — my neighbor described me as Hispanic when he called 911.

What mattered was that I was a woman of color trying to get into her apartment — in an almost entirely white apartment complex in a mostly white city — and a white man who lived in another building called the cops because he’d never seen me before."

It also didn't matter that Fay Wells was a lone black woman. Nineteen cops? Were they racing to see who would get to shoot somebody?


You tell me, okay? Why would 19 cops show up for a break-in? Why do you have your guns out for a "maybe."

"Maybe" somebody is breaking in, right? Maybe. A 911 call is a "maybe," yes?  A 911 call is not a sure thing, right? That's why you don't show up to a possible break-in involving 1 or 2 people with your guns out. A 911 call is a "maybe."  That lack of sureness is also why a cop should never pull his gun out and shoot it at boy 2 seconds after he steps out of his squad car onto a playground, right?

I still don't understand why 19 cops responded

Oh yeah. I forgot. Black and brown people have superhuman demon-like strength according to Darren Wilson. I forgot. My bad. Nineteen is totally reasonable. 

Wells has been fighting the Santa Monica police department, trying to get answers for what happened. Last I read she couldn't even get all the names of the cops that were there during her arrest. She got 17 of the 19 names from the Santa Monica Police Department and the list of names that she was given doesn't match the list Santa Monica Police Department sent to the newspaper editor that requested the same information.

Is there any question in your mind as to what happened to Skip Gates not long after President Obama was elected. Remember when the President said the police responded "stupidly?"  

The police in Massachusetts basically arrested Skip Gates for getting mouthy when the white officer, clearly suffering Slave Master Mentality, started ordering Skips about in his own home AFTER that cop knew Gates hadn't broken in.


I can't find the link, but be advised that I got the slave-master-mentality impression from Officer Crowley's rendition of events (in a police report ?), not Skip Gates' version and not from any "liberal newspaper" either. Officer Crowley made it clear that he thought he had the gawd given right to boss a little, old, black man on a cane around.

When Crowley's white wife was interviewed for a newspaper she inadvertently made sure everybody understood the same thing-- master mentality arrives in her husband with the putting on of his uniform. I believe she used the words something like 'my husband demands respect when he's in uniform.'

Sandra Bland is dead due to Slave Master Mentality as well. Encinias may register as white but he's pale enough to pass, and he passed as white with flying colors the day her arrested Bland. 

I think Mike Brown is dead for the same reason, Slave Master Mentality. I believed the friend when he said Wilson hit Brown with the door and it hit him in the face. Can you imagine the master in "12 Years A Slave" responding any differently than Darren Wilson apparently did? I can't.  

I hope to see that Wells is interviewed by a black magazine or a black news outlet soon because I'd really like to know more details about how she fits herself into the Black Lives Matter narrative. 

I wonder if the Santa Monica police department's treatment of her stripped away any class protections she thought she had? I wonder if she was surprised by the fact that everything she said to them about belonging there, about being in her own home just evaporated into the air. She must have felt like her voice was being sucked away into a black hold where nobody could hear it.

I'm actually surprised more black people don't become more violent in such situations. The police are dragging you out of your own home like you don't belong there, where you have bills with your name on them, pictures of your own family, and passwords on your computers to prove that you belong there, even a receipt from the locksmith. And still nobody listens when you're clearly saying,

'This space is mine. I pay rent here. You are the ones that don't belong here' 

All it took for Sandra Bland to die was say she had the right to smoke in her own car after the cop had finished giving her the ticket. Who can defend such behavior except those who truly believe they own you? 


I hope Wells was only surprised by the number of officers that showed up and not the event itself. Black adults who are poorly mentally prepared for white assaults can go one of two ways. They can suddenly become outraged into protest action or they can become so disillusioned that they are hateful and suspicious of all white people, forevermore.  And I think I've seen that the latter is more likely.


In some ways, I'm very glad that my parents felt like they were forced, by the times we were living in, to talk to me about race from a very young age. I was five or six the first time I had nasty racial experience with other children. I was probably twelve before a white adult went beyond giving me nasty looks or refusing to touch my hand when giving me change.


It hurt me very much to be told about white racism so young. But I feel like you're more flexible when you're young because you allow yourself to be sad. The older you get the more you tell yourself the behavior of others doesn't matter and "I don't care anyway." In other words, you respond to hurts by making yourself harder and tougher instead of crying once you get a little older.


On the flip side, I keep wondering if it wouldn't be better to raise black children in an exclusively black environment sans any white imagery until they are seven or eight or nine -- old enough to have a very strong base for their self-esteem, old enough to see their own black looks as the most beautiful normal but young enough to cry and admit they are hurt when they are hurt by sexism, racism, and the petty evil that comes out of the human heart so often.


In other words, I wonder if black children wouldn't be better off learning a stronger sense of self before learning empathetic acceptance of the other.  I've been wondering this for years now. I still don't know


But I don't wonder about older children and adults being surprised by the depth of white racism in this country. I can't recall ever having seen a naive black adult move into accepting overt and covert racism for what it is in a mature and reasonable way. There's either a brittle hatred of all white people or three-quarters of the reality of white racism is stuffed into a box and hidden away. I feel like you can't help either extremist. It's like they're destined to suffer from B-PTSD* for the rest of their lives.

So, I hope Fay Wells was mentally prepared for what happened. And I hope we get to hear what she does with this experience in the future.

in The Washington Post today, detailing the harrowing ordeal 
that took place on Sept. 6 and how she is still shaken up.
She writes, "I'm heartbroken that the place I called home no longer feels safe."

The police department's response, issued by a black female police chief, tries to divert attention from the only thing that matters - sending 17 to 19 police officers and a K-9 unit for a break-in and how it is the officers that knocked on Wells' door couldn't resolve it AT THE DOOR instead of dragging her outside in cuffs.  Any idiot can call the police. One idiot did, racist or not. The police response is the problem.

And I really thought we'd established that the swarm technique is a bad technique with the beating of Rodney King. Maybe that's not what I think it is -- sending 5x as many cops as is necessary to get the job done

The NAACP had already been to Santa Monica to discuss its poor handling of other cases. They Santa Monica PD is supposed to be producing a report on their handling of minorities in a report next year.

On Thursday evening, at about 11:30 p.m Jo Ann Gibson Robinson informed Fred Gray, an attorney and former student, that she was thinking that the Women's Political Council (WPC) should distribute thousands of notices calling for all bus riders to stay off the buses on Monday, the day of Mrs. Parks’ trial.

THAT same night [Jo Ann] called John Cannon at a local college and informed him that the WPC was staging a boycott and needed to run off the notices. He told her that he too had suffered embarrassment on the city buses....She, along with two of her most trusted senior students, met John in the middle of the night, at the college’s duplicating room...

Jo Ann Gibson Robinson, an English professor at Alabama State College, had been president of the WPC since 1950. Under Robinson’s leadership, the WPC intensified their focus on bus reform. Members of the organization met several times with city officials throughout 1954 and 1955 in an effort to achieve better bus service [for blacks]

They had been considering a boycott of the Montgomery City Lines for years at the time of Rosa Parks’ arrest.

Therefore, some of the WPC officers [had long ago] discussed how and where to deliver thousands of leaflets announcing a boycott, and those plans now stood them in good stead. [Between 4 A M. and 7 A.M.] they outlined their routes...She took out the W.P.C membership roster and called

[35,000 leaflets] were also dropped off at business places, storefronts, beauty parlors, beer halls, factories, barber shops, and every other available place. Workers would pass along notices both to other employees as well as to customers. When Black Ministers saw that the congregation was already on board for the boycott, the ministers got on board too, regardless of denomination. Martin Luther King, was at the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church.

AND THEN hundreds of black people, mostly black maids going to work in white houses, WALKED instead of riding. The PWC made arrangements for carpools and whatever transportation they could get together.

The clergymen also formed the Montgomery Improvement Assocation (MIA) on December 5, 1955 to help guide the Montgomery Bus Boycott [as it] was soon clear that the people were willing to carry the boycott beyond one day. Indeed it went on for more than a year.

Ella Baker, Baynard and others would talk to King about starting a movement that would fight for the rights of African Americans throughout the South. That guiding force, as conceived of by Baynard Rustin, would be turn the MIA into the SCLC

"President Barack Obama released a statement on Saturday calling for gun control in the aftermath of the mass shooting at a Planned Parenthood center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the day before. "

"This is not normal," Obama said. "We can't let it become normal."

He then called to curtail the "easy accessibility of weapons of war" for some people.

"If we truly care about this — if we're going to offer up our thoughts and prayers again, for God knows how many times, with a truly clean conscience — then we have to do something about the easy accessibility of weapons of war on our streets to people who have no business wielding them," Obama continued.

Don't be confused.  There have been two mass shootings within a few days of each other.

In the quote above, the president was  NOT TALKING ABOUT THE SHOOTING TODAY WHERE AT LEAST 14 ARE DEAD IN SAN BERNADINO AND AT LEAST ANOTHER 14 ARE INJURED. He was talking about last week's small mass shooting.

Small.  I think the Planned Parenthood Shooting could be called "small," don't you.  Or maybe not. I can't make up mind.  But I do think we need categories of mass shootings now, don't you?  "Only" three people were actually killed at Planned Parenthood last week.

And we do need "small," "medium" and "large," designations, right?  So long as we can't get personal weapons of mass destruction out of the hands of the average idiot that could lose their mind or lose their temper, we need to get our mass shootings organized. We need  something that's simple. And I think "small," "medium," and "large" should do it.

I just can't figure out if each category should only count the dead.


I mean, 4 dead and 1 injured is definitely a "small" mass shooting. That's intuitive. But is 6 dead and 30 injured still "small" if you're going to make your medium category start at 20? And if you make your "large" mass shooting start at 50 and end at 100, is 100 like a one person war? And what if two people shoot like a Columbine is it a war-war?

It's all so confusing.  But if we're going to just keep sitting here letting this happen, we might as well get organized so the history books get it down right. Rome wasn't built or destroyed in a day. We need the history books to let the world know what was happening here just before the end.

So if you come up with a solution to the dead versus injured categorizing problem, let me know.  We have to think of the children...in the future....that will need accurate history books.

In the meantime, lets just sit around and imagine exactly how those phone calls are going between all those praying white republicans and National Rifleman Association.

"Bob, what are you worried about?"one senator has surely said, "The NRA has nothing to worry about. Nothing. Know why?  Because exactly nothing was done after Sandy Hook. Those little white kids looked just like my own kids did when they were young. Nobody cares but a few whiney- b*tch- babies on the left  So what makes you think anything is gonna change now?  

We'll just throw throw a few selective stats out there in ether about black-on-black crime spilling over into white neighborhoods-- NEVER EVER mentioning white-on-white crime remaining above 84% always and forever--and we're gold again.

Bob! Stop yelling. And stop threatening to not fund my next campaign. You need me as much as I need you. So go have another beer and shoot at some targets or something. I got this. American white guys like us love imagining that they are going to get into a gun fight on the front lawn and defend their families.  We true Americans love victory so much that we love imaginary victories that never come to pass.

And Americans love violent over throw of imaginary criminals that never come too. And if white guys like us can imagine the criminals that coming for their poor defenseless white and children will be black, well our white brothers will buy two guns for each floor of their house! All we have to do is keep white folks believing that white people do not kill other white people to the tune of 84%.  Guns are here to stay, Bob.  It will never matter to our constituents how easy it is for someone that's lost their marbles to get a personalized weapon of mass destruction 

Stop yelling, Bob. I told you. I got this. Geez, you need to relax. Forget the beer. Go get some whiskey and shoot some cans off your kid's head or something."

I don't even know what happened during San Bernadino mass shooting. I got an e-mail while I was working. I didn't even go online to see what all the shooting was about.  I'm tired of mass shootings. I'm tired of gun control conversations that go nowhere.  And just like that senator talking to Daddy War Bucks Bob, I know what Sandy Hook means -- no gun control ever.

So I've decided I'll consume my mass shooting news in packs of 12. Right now news papers have their "mass shootings" starting in the small range where at least 4 people are dead. That might be some sort of FBI categorization. But I think I'm only going to limit my count to medium sized mass shootings, 10 being the cut off. 

But I still can't figure out if all 10 have to be dead or what?  Maybe, I'll think about it later. My head is spinning with disgust at this entire situation.

SOLIDARITY, ALLY THEATER, AND EXPECTATIONS

Just a few days ago on Twitter, I was tweeting about criticism of the #Zola story and how my distrust of white women influences my view of innocence and villainy. Having experienced so much violence from white women over the years, I’m skeptical of anything that paints a white woman as the innocent victim and a black woman as the villain. Because my experience is that white women can do ANYTHING to us and still be seen as the victim and us as the villain. I don’t trust white women. And I tweeted exactly that.

And, wouldn’t you know it, an “ally” chimed in.

The only thing that confuses me about this article is why any person of color would expect the white response to be different--even if the response was from a white female. The preliminary stages of ally-ship for white people probably looks exactly like "ally theater"....with 9 out of 10 white adults not even trying to be allies.

The ones that are trying don't deserve a cookie for doing the social basics a.k.a. being a decent human being. However, the fact remains that white adults are extremely slow when it comes to race. In fact, I routinely tell people that I think of most white adults as having a 2nd grade education level in regards to race -- if that. That's why I keep wondering why you'd expect anything but childish race behavior in the white women situations described.

I'm not exaggerating for effect here. Honestly, the conversation you will have with most black kids at 8 will be more nuanced and intelligent than it is with the white adult who rarely or never interacts deeply with people of color.
The vast majority of the black people that I've spoken to EVER IN LIFE experience white people the same way. So what's with the 'I don't trust white women to be intersectional anti-racism allies' as if that some sort of news flash? (And is she implying she DOES trust black men to be intersectional anti-sexism allies? Because I don't see them as being any more reliable on sexism front.)

While the situations the author described make me itch and sometimes literally make me nauseous if they happen too many times, too close together, I do know that white allies are going to have to move through 3rd and 4th grade to get to college level.

Ally Theater is going to happen as some white people before they leave white guilt grade school and move onto go on to Ally College and Ally Adulthood. All of them won't make it out grade school because some of them are only eve interested in trying to shed the bad feelings associated with being a part of such an oppressive group - just like their parents before them, and their great grandparents before that, etc. Any person of color should already know that a percentage of the ally theater pretenders will never, ever see past their narcissism to what's being done to the oppressed. However, some of the second graders will move onto 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. And the *It's not my job to teach you* attitude will not help them.

YET... I am in favor of white people, who have already graduated race college, doing all the tutoring of the second graders. Actually I insist on it. I think black people went through a stage of teaching the racial awareness newborns during the Civil Rights Movement. I think people of color have done more than their fair share of the teaching. It wasn't our responsibility back in the days of old either but we WERE the ones suffering the consequences of white ignorance, so we did it. Nowadays? We, as people of color, are still suffering the consequences of white ignorance. But I think the Civil Rights Movement taught us that dark-skinned people can only move white people from race pre-school to 2nd grade and no further. The racist belief system, held by those white folk who don't think they have racist beliefs, whispers to many white folk "those people think everything is about race." This attitude stops race learning. Therefore, anti-racism for white people needs to mostly come from other white people. They should think of it as paying duty on the white privilege that they are aware of enjoying.

On a slightly different note, there's a whole bunch of black folk who think gives them cool points to preach to the choir while jumping up and down and screaming, "It's not my responsibility to teach you." But this attitude winds up being ridiculous rather than cool because it's based on a silly expectation, but I'll come back to this later

If you're too tired to answer questions about race. That's cool. I'm tired too. Very. But I don't brag about it. Because if I advertise my tired attitude as "good" instead of something that just exists in me sometimes or most of the time, my fed-up-ness is going to spread. And I don't want that. I hope people that are younger hold onto their idealism for as long as they are supposed to. The idealists are the ones that move things forward more often than not.
Besides, somebody has take a an attitude other than "It's not my job to teach you" or nobody's going to get taught. And this remains important even if you are at a place in your life where you've decided you'll never teach another white person another thing.

People of color are going to outnumber white people in 2050 or 2060. And that needs to actually mean something because white people have remained willfully stupid on race for the most part. Arguments about civil rights, immigration, and foreign policy should take on a different flavor when people of color make up the majority. I'm not expecting kumbaya between POC groups but after some debate/argument we as POC should be able to make positive progress on these issues. But our collective numbers are not going to mean jack if each non-white group doesn't step up and start asking a bunch of questions about the other's experiences of America with the full expectation that the other will answer. That is, "It's not my job to teach you" is not going to work any better between different groups of people of color than it does between people of color and whites.

I've seen "It's not my job to teach you" take some ultra stupid forms over the last year or so. This attitude has deep roots in being fed up with the benefits -of -racism -enjoying -while -denying -racism -exists white folk. I understand that. Again, I absolutely insist that some of our white allies, firm in their solidarity, spend some of what they've gained through white privilege on educating their white own. But people of color need to get off the "It's not my job to teach you" train and stay off. Just say, "I'm tired" then do what you can do without resentment -- like an adult. We can talk about our resentments, the more publicly the better. But try not to spread that resentment as some sort of ideal way to behave. Resentment as a standard operating procedure is never the right course no matter what the other has done to you. It's not about what "they" deserve but who "we" want to be and what we want the world to look like.

White women, having experienced sexism, ought to be better about racism but are not
Black men, having experience racism, ought to be better about sexism but are not

White Supremacy has me expecting more of black men
That's why they are at the center and not the periphery

If RACE IS FIRST then solidarity with black men has to come first and solidarity can't exist if
internalized racism, internalized sexism, sexism, and patriarchy are ignored

Black women need to stop looking at white women and focus on being able to trust other black women to carry the ball forward. That means we need to worry about -the black women that stood behind
that black men that stood behind
Clarence Thomas; as well as -the Camille Cosby's who defend Bill Cosbys;

-the Rhianna's who date men who've already beat them up; -the Beyonce's that sing about Tina Turner getting beat up after she declares herself a feminist; -the Taraji P Henson's that defend Terrance Howard after he's beat 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 women. We need to worry about the black women who say anything black men do is okay because these black womena are likely to kill us faster than anybody else-- because they are inside of us, because they are us. In other words, we need black women to stop guzzling the patriarchy then wrangle black men in next. White women cannot be depended upon for this. But maybe other women of color can be depended on, having experienced patriarchy from their own men just like black women have from black men AND white supremacy too.

Black women and women of color together first
Then expectations of black men
Then Men of color....
and eventually white women

Focusing on white women being unreliable inside a country that runs on white supremacy is a supreme waste of time.

White privilege making mainstream news is always a good thing.  But it's galling when they are so late because predominantly white news organizations are so dense. But obvious examples of white privilege making mainstream news is a good thing. I keep saying that to myself over and over. Something has to penetrate skulls in a lasting way eventually.

REPUBLICANS COME RIGHT ON OUT AND USE THE F-WORD

Believe it or not the F-word is not being used on President Obama for a change

The F-word in question is "Fascist"


Apparently, the republicans are pulling out the stops now that Trump called for the Hitler like registration of Muslims. Members of Trumps own party have started calling him a "fascist" in the strong terms.

I find it hard to believe that mainstream republicans are actually against the idea of Muslim registration, given what they've attempted to do before --- voter registration, disenfranchisement of critical sections of the population, control women's reproductive rights, etc. And Trump's ratings go up with the republican voters with every racist statement he makes.

If Trump had said something milder than "registration," something not so very parallel to Hitler's initial approach to population control but still proposes to keep track of where and how the latest "those people" group is moving, I think the other republican presidential candidates might not have said much.

The traditional republicans know what Donald doesn't know about or care about: White supremacy statements can win when they are communicated in dog whistles but not shouts. Even racists don't want to be identified as racists. Racism is very socially unpopular. Even KKK member will get on television, identify themselves as KKK members and then say they are not racist.

I think Donald Trump would like to be President. But I don't think that's the goal. I think the goal is to see himself on television and get important people to respond to what he says.
When Trump finally leaves the field it won't surprise me if the traditional republicans trot out something that gets the same thing accomplished, Muslim registration, but sounds better to their anti-to-anything-not-white base.

Some people think there's a chance Trump will be the candidate since he's still around when he shouldn't be. The traditional republicans know there isn't a snowball's chance in h*ll Trump can win so something's got to happen. If the traditional republicans decide they aren't going to back a bus over Trump, they better let the Tea Party have Donald, but choose an alternate candidate and get behind him.

It's not that I want the republicans to be stronger. But having Donald Trump get one step from the White House terrifies me. What if we're all wrong? What if there's a silent white, extremely racist majority that votes him into office?

I feel like a some kind of a conspiracy theorist.  But that soul-deep, ugly son-of-a-b*tch cannot become president. I want to see Jeb Bush lose to Hillary Clinton, not Trump. Deep in my bones, I know we might wind up surprised if the final presidential battle is Clinton v Trump. Voters in the United States are a lot more sexist than they are given credit for.

Hillary Clinton assuming her whiteness was enough to get her the nomination is one of the reasons President Obama is president right now.  I'm glad it worked out this way. I didn't think I'd see a black president in my lifetime. But I still know Hillary Clinton being female is at least part of what did her in.
