Unity Bank, the only black-owned bank in Texas, gained several new customers this week. Local Houston rappers are now banking black.
Slim Thug, Paul Wall, Willie D and Trae the Truth were just some of the rappers who came together to discuss gun violence with Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, according to CW39. But it wasn’t only gun violence that was discussed; the rappers also decided to put their money where their mouths are.

I want to just be quiet and be happy about this. But I hope one two or ten of them come forward to say or scream, "Rock The Vote! Make Sure You Vote!" or just "Get out and vote!" Because if this is successful in that it is copied from state to state, and black people are able to bank black everywhere, we have to be able to protect it.
Financial power without enough political power means there's always a burning of black wall street waiting for us in the future, off in the distance.
We can't let history repeat itself. Voting for the lesser of two evils has never been more important. Black folks died to make sure we can vote, so do it.
