BREXIT VOTE GOES DOWN IN DEFEAT IN HISTORIC LOSS

Feeling Bloggy

BASICS FIRST

     What does Brexit mean?
It is a word that is used as a shorthand way of saying the UK leaving the [European Union] - merging the words Britain and exit to get Brexit...
Why is Britain leaving the European Union?
A referendum - a vote in which everyone (or nearly everyone) of voting age can take part - was held on Thursday 23 June, 2016, to decide whether the UK should leave or remain in the European Union. Leave won by 51.9% to 48.1%. The referendum turnout was 71.8%, with more than 30 million people voting.
Reading between the lines of several articles over the last couple of years, the term "BREXIT" should fall on our ears and into our soul in the same way as the words "Trump's Wall" do.  That is, the true motivation of BREXIT is "control of their borders" which is a euphemism meant to cover-up white supremacy and xenophobia....same as it does here in the United States when people refer to Trump's Wall.

AND NOW THIS:
FAILURE OF THE BREXIT VOTE

The failure of the Brexit withdrawal agreement represents the greatest loss for a British government, breaking the previous record of 166 votes in 1924, when the minority Labour government lost the vote over an amendment put forward by the Liberal party to establish a select committee to investigate the government’s decision to drop criminal charges against newspaper editor JR Campbell. In the aftermath of that historic loss, then-Prime Minister Ramsay MacDonald dissolved parliament and called a general election, which Labour promptly lost.

      So is Brexit definitely happening?

The UK is due to leave the European Union on 29 March, 2019 - it's the law, regardless of whether there is a deal with the EU or not.
Stopping Brexit would require a change in the law in the UK.
The European Court of Justice ruled on 10 December 2018 that the UK could cancel the Article 50 Brexit process without the permission of the other 27 EU members, and remain a member of the EU on its existing terms, provided the decision followed a "democratic process".
Prime Minister Theresa May warned Conservative MPs thinking of voting against the deal she reached with the EU that they risk "no Brexit at all". This is a reference to another referendum, which is backed by the SNP, Lib Dems, Plaid Cymru the Green Party, a small number of Conservatives and larger group of Labour MPs, who want the public to be given the final say, with the option to remain in the EU. They are trying to get the Labour leadership to back them - but Jeremy Corbyn wants to try and force a general election first...
As I understand it, if the U.K. leaves the European Union without an agreement, dire things like...um...the entire country being unable to buy groceries is going to happen...

Video: Trevor Noah "gots jokes" as he gives you the news. But the white supremacy ruling the day here and in Europe is no joke at all.
