(A love story, plus a verse)
I quit my job, my relationships, my spirituality. I wanted to quit my life. I went to the woods to have one last talk with God. “God” I said “Can you give me one good reason not to quit?”.
His answer surprised me. “Look around”, God said. “Do you see the fern and the bamboo?”.
“Yes” I said.
“When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from the Earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor. Yes nothing came from the bamboo seed .
In the 2nd year the fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. Even in the 3rd year there was nothing from the bamboo seed. But I wouldn’t quit.
In the years 3 and 4, again there was nothing from the bamboo seed. Still I would not quit.
Then in the 5th year a tiny sprout emerged from the Earth. Compared to the fern it was small and insignificant. But within just 6 months the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall.
It had spent 5 years just growing roots.
Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive. I would never give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle.” God explained to me. “Did you know, all this time you have been struggling, you’ve actually been growing roots?.
I didn’t quit on the bamboo. I’ll never quit on you.
Don’t compare yourself to others.
The bamboo had a different purpose than the fern. Yet they both make the forest beautiful. Your time will come. You will rise high,”. God said to me.
“How high should I rise?.” I asked.
“How high will the bamboo rise?”. God asked in return.
“As high as it can?”. I questioned.
“Yes”, God said. “Give me glory by rising as high as you can.”
You may lose faith in God, but God will never give up on you. He has a plan for you and whether things go your way or not, trust Him. He knows what is in store for you.
“Yes” I said.

1 COR 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and Xhe will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation Xhe will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
Jer 29:11For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
