It is perfectly understandable why white America assumes that black people don’t talk about black-on-black crime. However, the reason they make this assumption dates to a quote found in recently uncovered papers from an unnamed woman archaeological and historical researchers refer to as “Grandmama”:
“It ain’t none of their damn business.”
The reality is, in neighborhoods and cities across America, there are countless organizations, activists and movements dedicated to curbing violence in black communities. The number of “Stop the Violence” marches dwarfs the demonstrations against police brutality. Unity rallies and peace picnics happen every day. Scared Straight programs for at-risk youths...
But those efforts don’t make the evening news because they aren’t as salacious as people blocking traffic and protesting; nor do they serve the preconceived white confirmation bias. Besides, there’s no way white people would know about this unless they stopped deflecting with trite questions and instead actually went into a minority neighborhood to selflessly join the effort to address the problems plaguing ...
OK, you can stop laughing now....
Both sociologists and criminologists agree that violent crime is a complex socioeconomic phenomenon. Generally speaking, research shows that poor people commit the most crime...if we are going to derail a conversation about black lives [or domestic terrorism in Las Vegas] to talk about black-on-black crime, there are a few other questions we should answer first:
Why is the rate of violence actually higher among poor, urban whites?
Why don’t we ever discuss the economic impact of redlining and segregation on rates of violence?
Will this conversation include a debate about how blacks are arrested, incarcerated and sentenced for longer periods than whites for committing the same crimes?

An important statistic that's not mentioned in the article above regards police failure rates.
In Chicago the unsolved murder rate was 72% in 2015 when the national average hovers near 25%. The 2016 article below says the unsolved murder rate in Chicago was 71% and has hovered near 70% for three years.

POLICE CONTAINMENT VERSUS POLICE CRIME SOLVING
Chicago's unsolved murder rate means 3 out of 4 murderers will never see the inside of a prison cell.
I wonder if that means 3 out of 4 won't even be questioned, won't even be at risk for going to prison?
I wonder if "unsolved" means police never have any idea who killed who when they find a black body in the hood? Or if that means sometimes they know who did it but they can't prove it? (I've probably watching too much LAW AND ORDER over the years)
Do cops even pretend to care about certain neighborhoods? Do they arrive resentful they have to pick up another black body?
Any way you slice it, if predominantly white run police departments don't give a rat's behind about the people murdered in certain locations if they are of a certain hue, then a relatively small number of murderers might be free to kill large numbers of murder victims over time during their climb to the top of whatever mountain they're climbing whether it be
1) the drug king-pin mountain or
2) the toxic masculinity mountain (I'm the toughest guy, alpha dog)
The way other major cities are segregated, the way other cities have black and brown and white sections stop and start in small strips, I wonder how easy it is to see when cops aren't doing their jobs in certain communities?
For example, the GRIM SLEEPER is an example of "black-on-black crime" where white run police departments did virtually nothing to stop a serial killer for more than 20 years.
Lonnie Franklin may have killed hundreds of black women over a 20 year period within a very small strip of land in Los Angeles. When police finally stumbled over him, they found this killer had hundreds of women's photographs in addition to the photos of women he killed - women that the police never found.
The reason he got the name the GRIM SLEEPER is because police though the serial killer stopped killing for a number of years -- which is unusual because serial killers don't stop unless something makes them (death or jail) It's unlikely that it's a coincidence that Franklin's "sleeping period" coincided with him having a job at the garbage dump.
TAKE AWAYS

- A 72% unsolved murder rate probably encourages poverty challenged young black boys (not men) to use Chicago as masculinity's proving ground.
BLACK-ON-BLACK CRIME AS DEFLECTION
"Black-on-Black Crime isn't real or isn't any more "real" than "White-on-White Crime" or "Latino on Latino Crime" or "Asian on Asian Crime."
Crime is intraracial because people rob, rape, and kill the people who live near them. And in a defacto-segregated country like this one, that means at least 85% of crime will be white-on-white, black-on-black, or latino-on-latino, etc. most years.
"Black-on-black" crime was/is a pejorative label used first or most often used against black people by Ronald Reagan to deflect conversations away from the outcomes of white supremacy. And the black-on-black-crime verbal billy club is still used the same way today.
Some black folks don't know any better but to believe in black-on-black crime as something other, as something more violent than "normal violent crime." But some black people have clasped "black-on-black crime" to their hearts as a shameful black sin, even after they know the facts of white-on-white crime, because they need something to be ashamed of. They need something to blame, other than white supremacy, for the condition of black neighborhoods left poor by white flight.
You have to remember that Americans hate poverty and they're very close to hating the poor. Black Americans being Americans too are not exempt from this attitude of hating the poor and blaming them for their poverty. Therefore, there will always be some internal-racism suffering Black Americans who will always be twice as quick as whites to separate black folks into respectable and not-respectable in order to feel like they are worthy of white admiration without even knowing that this is what they seek.
The reason crime in poor, black neighborhoods should always be of primary concern to black people is because we live in these neighborhoods.Their ours.
Super rich, white people Bel Aire worry about crime in their own neighborhood because that affects their quality of life, same as every other neighborhood in the country
Yet a certain segment of the white population are the only ones overly concerned about what's going on in other folks neighborhoods in very specific circumstances -- such as when they know neighborhoods are suffering the natural outcomes of poverty while being black and they to deflect the topic away from mass shootings as a form of white-on-white crime
Certain members of white tribe don't ever want to focus on things like why poor urban white people are more violent than poor black people. The other thing many white people can't focus on is why so many mass murderers seem to be white men who feel they've lost something they thought they were entitled to?
Anecdotal evidence seems to suggest that white men are heavily over-represented among pedophiles too.
However it might only look that way because what happens to black children is not very high on mainstream media's list of what's important to report on, much less containment oriented white run police departments.
THE WHITE-ON-WHITE CRIME
THAT WHITE FOLKS SHOULD FOCUS ON
This latest, largest mass shooting in modern history was just committed by a rich white man, if his brother is to be believed.
And if this particular instance of mass shooter violence doesn't fit the poverty model or white-on-white crime patterns maybe it's high time we started looking at the other common denominator between mass murderers, such as white maleness.
I've read two statistics lately. One of which said white men are 57% of mass murders since 1982 and the other which seemed to say they are 63% of mass murders. Whichever one is correct, all signs point to that rate being 300% higher than it should be since white people are 63% of the country, half of them being female and some large percentage of the remainder being boys below the age of 14 rather than men.
Other than white maleness, the other thing shooters have in common is high levels of frustrated entitlement -- entitled to white women's bodies (Elliot Rodger), entitled feel secure in whiteness as a white man (Dylann Roof)
I truly think that life NOT WORKING OUT the way it "should" for a white man, as a result of a moderate amount of work, can make some of them seek self-importance through murdering a bunch of people before they commit suicide while on the world stage.
Old age could make a white man feel like he doesn't have the world by the ass anymore too, which could, in turn, make him seek self-importance through murdering a bunch of people before he goes out with a bang.
That's not "mental illness" but "social illness" born of believing that you are entitled to a certain place within the American Dream, an entitlement that white men have a higher level than anyone else.
